We sure have enough to pay somebody $ 4 mill and a bunch to his kinfolk and buddies..

4 mill isnt much when you compare richts salary to other guys from top tier programs. 4 mill is basically average. we def didn't change with the times and now that we started, we have to pay whatever it takes to get a top level OC (elite OC).

EXACTLY!!!

For the love of God, its NOT ABOUT MONEY!!! It is if you are asking " what does it take to be in the CFB playoffs every year?". OK ,then I agree we need either an Urban or a Nick Saben to guarantee that success.

But man all im talking about is:
a. WIN our soft AF division every year;
b. Win an ACC title every now and then;
c. Every now and then BE IN THE CONVERSATION for playoffs.

I REFUSE refuse refuse to believe that a-c requires a Jimbo Fisher/Meyer/Saban. Refuse.

Look at that backwards a-- bumpkin Dabo Sweeney. DABO SWEENEY for Christ's sake!!!! Hes built a frickin monster by recruiting like a mad man in target rich Florida, SC, and Georgia. Is he anyones version of a technical genius????

I agree with the posters who essentially are wishing we had hired someone with "fire in the belly". I now even regret passing on Mullen.

Sadly, we are on this" Mark Richt ride" for as **** long as he wants it.

our only hope, realistically, is he tires of this and agrees to hand it over to Diaz in 2 years.

dabo also had the highest paid coordinators in football, If im not mistaken.

Understand, but it doesn't seem there is heart, especially on the OLine. Someone needs to stand up and be that leader and demand
better. Last week it was stated on this board, on the press that the OLine did not perform during practice and they stayed behind to push the sled, with DJ. Someone has to demand this from within the team too. Before LSU started the season they had a players only meeting, look at them now......

the issue with the OL (according to romberg) is that they **** up in practice too lol. that's on searles and that entire group

Agree not here to argue a fire needs to be lit under some ****s. Fire in the belly. Not seeing it

normally you build to greatness right? If you go back and read my reply you will comprehend by it will take us longer than 3 years to approach greatness.
Our top 5-8 kids are bought and offered things we won't do or can't do. That's not a recruiting advantage. Any advantage we had in days of yester year went out the window with the interwebz. We have no loyalty from locals. I would argue that USC/Texas/UGA all have it better than we do when it comes to recruiting hotbeds and local talent.
Absolutely disagree!!!!! If miami never leave SFL they will still rank in the top 10 in recruiting!! Georgia?! my ***! Texas may be!! Cal is over rated!! I been there seem the high schools there and the competition does not even compare!! You never answered, why the defense is all of a sudden working after years under AL Gooften being a total failure??? Please answer!!

We lost to a QB who throws like Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds. How much more money does the BOT need to give the athletics department to beat UVA?

People are right, it is much harder. Much harder to win a NC, but UVA? It's not much harder. You literally just have to have the team awake and we should win that one. Just get your guys to show up and we win.

All this about an OC is perfectly true, but the bigger issue is not being able to get the team to play hard every week. You can call all the plays you want, and it will help, but if they won't show up on gameday, we're going to continue to let every team hang around and lose a few every year.

I've been a fan of Richt's and I've maintained that playcalling wasn't nearly our biggest problem. But sht, I can't deny that Richt seems incapable of calling plays that might mask our weaknesses. Quick passes? Nope. Runs that don't brush up against the center? Nah. Passing on 1st down? Of course not.

This is beyond frustrating, but my current #1 problem, even before OL or ST is effort. That team that looked like they would rather be napping against fsu? Unexceptable. That team that looked like they had no will against UVA? Unacceptable. That's coaching.

I don't know how to motivate kids, but then again that's not my job. Get your kids to fcking play. Every. Single. Game.

Then fix your motherfcking ST and stop calling plays that take an hour and a half to develop.

How come any other coaches in CFB can't do it? There's literally 4 of them that have a ship and half of those guys it took 6-7 years and much, much more financial commitment that our school has shown.

As bad as that loss was i think people should put down the phone and unplug. We we'ren't close to begin the year despite what some booty goons will tell you. Yes this loss hurts and it sucks. People fooled themselves into believing we were something we weren't, you know cause it's year 3 and Saban and Urban were able to do it in year three. Fuggin idiots hahaha.

We're a top 20-25 team probably and we will drop games. We'll be a perenially 9 to 10 win team with the occasional shot at the CFP. If things come together and we strike magic again we can be more.

BRO..YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY THE MOST RETARDED POSTER, ON THIS WHOLE ENTIRE FORUM, AND THAT'S SAYING ALOT DUE TO HOW ACTIVE YOU ARE ON HERE (SOME OF US ACTUALLY HAVE LIVES TO LIVE..BELIEVE IT OR NOT). REGARDLESS THOUGH..YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT-ONLY 4 ACTIVE COACHES WIN SHIPS, AND THEY PUT FORTH A HIGHER FINANCIAL COMMITTMENT..BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

BUT LET ME ASK YOU..HOW MANY PROGRAMS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY HAVE EVER WON 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A SPAN OF 20 YRS, WITH 4 DIFFERENT HEAD COACHES-COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN 8?? ALSO..HOW MANY PROGRAMS HAVE THIS TYPE OF RECRUITING BASE-I'M SURE YOU CAN AGREE WE ARE AT LEAST TOP 3. EVEN A NEOPHYTE OR AMATEUR WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL CAN REALIZE THAT THE BIGGEST PREDICTOR OF SUCCESS FOR A HEAD COACH IS THE RECRUITING BASE..NOT FINANCIAL COMMITMENT, NOT FACILITIES, NOT STADIUM, ETC. THE FACT THAT THE LAST 4 HEAD COACHES AT THIS SCHOOL INCLUDING PMR (PASTOR MARK RICHT) HAVE FAILED TO CAPITALIZE ON THIS TYPE OF POTENTIAL..SPEAK VOLUMES FOR HOW HORRENDOUSLY BAD THE HIRES HAVE BEEN, MORE SO, THAN ANY CHANGING LANDSCAPE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. JUST LOOK AT WHAT MANNY DIAZ HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO WITH THE DEFENSE IN 3 YRS COMPARED TO WHAT HE INHERITED. AND THEN LOOK AT HOW WE'VE ACTUALLY MANAGED TO REGRESS UNDER PMR ON OFFENSE DURING THAT SAME TIME. GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY RANKINGS UNDER WHIPPLE & FISCH..AND THEN GET BACK TO ME. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD..STOP BEING A RICHT APOLOGIST, AND CONVINCING US "REAL FANS" TO TEMPER OUR EXPECTATIONS. YOURSELF AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU..ARE DOING THIS PROGRAM A HUGE DISSERVICE BY CONSTANTLY LOWERING THE BAR. THE BAR HERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONTEND FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS..OR GTFOH ASAP! 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS, IN 20 YRS, WITH 4 DIFFERENT HEAD COACHES, SAYS THOSE EXPECTATIONS ARE REASONABLE & WARRANTED-MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS KEEP THAT IN THE BACK OF YOUR MIND HOMEY.

Krypt.....if you have a dead man coach how in the world can he pump up the team? I hear you and agree, but when we show up we need 2 quarters and coming from behind to wake up to get excited to play! Richt is an old fart that need to be sitting on the porch playing fetch with the pet dog let alone coaching the UM football team!

Ive seen 40 years plus of CFB. I was in the stands during the Saben years.

Lou Saben.

So, as the Farmers insurance commercial goes, " I've seen a lot".

This Saturday was supposed to be a rewarding night for us. Game on TV, an EASY frickin' opponent, good weather, make a BBQ, have a celebratory cigar mid- game, no stress. etc....

Then, the horror show started, all the bad signs were there, and , sadly, by mid second period the inevitable result was set in motion.

The UVA game smacked me in the face more than most losses because it demolished the illusion I had sold myself that we were " this close" to elite again, that we were on the right( no pun ever intended) path , that we were " back". I actually was enjoying this season.
Top 25 programs ( remember when we all used " top 5" or " top 10" by default?) don't lose to Pitt last year like we did or THIS game. UVA is a mess on offense. That QB wouldn't start on St Thomas Aquinas.

A HC has to TRY to fail here. He has to work at NOT succeeding wildly!

Best recruiting base in the nation.
Weak *** division so you are in the Conf Championship game very year.
Home stadium has gone from a negative to a big positive.
Great tradition.
One of the top 2-3 recognizable and iconic " brands" in CFB.

I literally sat there on my couch Saturday and realized that I was wrong when I felt exuberant at the Richt hire. That we were " better" off than with Golden but that there are deep deep flaws in how Richt is setting about to get us to the top of the hill.

We are not elite. We are not a top 25 team or program. Richt is not going to do one SINGLE thing such as are being discussed on this site ( hire an OC, fire coach X ,etc)...

Man, how can 4 coaches in a row ***** this thing up so badly going on 15-16 years?? My God, its NOT that hard!!!

Anybody else having a hard time sleeping -- richt still thinks malik played good

Why are you so angry? In your ranting you made it seam like you have a life go back to it and stop being triggered by the interwebz.

Don't get shook so easily bud.

Its the easiest and hardest job in CFB if that makes sense to anyone. One its easy because the talent pool.....Two u are going up against the big dog coaches and bagmen for them.
