SEC built up to much momentum while we were down, dont know if we can get back to that level bama is playing at. It will take a savage coach to do it
yep, and if you think about it, around 2000 ? is when all the huge money started pouring in, but you had to spend some to get it, we chose not to participate. Look what Texas spends to win football games, unfokin real, but hey their program brought in 125 million last year ? not a bad return on your money

Ive seen 40 years plus of CFB. I was in the stands during the Saben years.

Lou Saben.

So, as the Farmers insurance commercial goes, " I've seen a lot".

This Saturday was supposed to be a rewarding night for us. Game on TV, an EASY frickin' opponent, good weather, make a BBQ, have a celebratory cigar mid- game, no stress. etc....

Then, the horror show started, all the bad signs were there, and , sadly, by mid second period the inevitable result was set in motion.

The UVA game smacked me in the face more than most losses because it demolished the illusion I had sold myself that we were " this close" to elite again, that we were on the right( no pun ever intended) path , that we were " back". I actually was enjoying this season.
Top 25 programs ( remember when we all used " top 5" or " top 10" by default?) don't lose to Pitt last year like we did or THIS game. UVA is a mess on offense. That QB wouldn't start on St Thomas Aquinas.

A HC has to TRY to fail here. He has to work at NOT succeeding wildly!

Best recruiting base in the nation.
Weak *** division so you are in the Conf Championship game very year.
Home stadium has gone from a negative to a big positive.
Great tradition.
One of the top 2-3 recognizable and iconic " brands" in CFB.

I literally sat there on my couch Saturday and realized that I was wrong when I felt exuberant at the Richt hire. That we were " better" off than with Golden but that there are deep deep flaws in how Richt is setting about to get us to the top of the hill.

We are not elite. We are not a top 25 team or program. Richt is not going to do one SINGLE thing such as are being discussed on this site ( hire an OC, fire coach X ,etc)...

Man, how can 4 coaches in a row ***** this thing up so badly going on 15-16 years?? My God, its NOT that hard!!!

Easy.

Really ****-poor hiring criteria, and UM is just cheap and lazy.

I get it about the coaching, I get it, I get it, I get it. But, the players are the ones on the field that are producing/not producing. Where is the (Ed Reed heart, Al Blades, Sr. Heart - I can go on) don't disrespect the U attitude this team had? Yes DJ has some, Jaquan Johnson has it. This team should not have let anyone come in and slap them in the face. Maybe they are a reflection of MR and his laissez-faire attitude. I have only seen him once lose his temper and that was last year against the refs when they did not call holding. Maybe age has taken his heart away, I see Diaz jumping up and down on the side lines and his group shows that same attitude. These young mean need to stand up too. Just saying.

yea but the coach has to put them in a position/situation to succeed

Understand, but it doesn't seem there is heart, especially on the OLine. Someone needs to stand up and be that leader and demand
better. Last week it was stated on this board, on the press that the OLine did not perform during practice and they stayed behind to push the sled, with DJ. Someone has to demand this from within the team too. Before LSU started the season they had a players only meeting, look at them now......

i hear ya, but i think it still comes down to coaching, kids take on the persona of their coach, Jimmy would be a great example of that, and Rick is the opposite of Jimmy, **** Jimmy would smash a waterboy if he was halfass'n something much less a player. I need to get down to Islamorada and have a green one with Jimmy, if he's there he will always talk awhile, we both are from same Texas town, he recruited me out of HS but was at OSU at that time, yea i'm old, shouldnt even be on here with all you young punks lol

We’re talking about getting ***** slapped by uva and Pitt. If we need the best 5 stars in so fla to beat them, might as well shut the program down.
This is my point too. I am not complaining about losing to Alabama or OSU. We lost to UVA...a team with a QB whose throwing motion is the worst I have ever seen in D1.

Again, they take on the persona of their coach, but, when we had teams I.e., 2001, the team was run by the Players, they were self disciplined. there was heart and soul. They fought for each other. U r right MR is not JJ. I love Jimmy, even though he coach to Cowboys. He knew how to manipulate players. Wish he was younger and wanted to come back and coach the U (his favorite team). And I may not be ask old as you but, I'm old too.

And last year we lost to Pitt, to start another long losing streak. Look at richts first year.

We’ve got Al Golden part deux.

How much money and how many five stars are necessary to beat a qb who has a total QB rating of 9.5?

It’s called cheap *** calls by a clueless administration. Why the **** would they kill a cash cow like this program was in the 80s and again in the early 2000s. The school had to be making money off the team then. Granted, they had to fix the problems we had in the 80s , but Butch did that and brought it back to elite by 2000. However, they went the cheap route with coaching hires and now the program is essentially dead. Just stupid.

EXACTLY!!!

For the love of God, its NOT ABOUT MONEY!!! It is if you are asking " what does it take to be in the CFB playoffs every year?". OK ,then I agree we need either an Urban or a Nick Saben to guarantee that success.

But man all im talking about is:
a. WIN our soft AF division every year;
b. Win an ACC title every now and then;
c. Every now and then BE IN THE CONVERSATION for playoffs.

I REFUSE refuse refuse to believe that a-c requires a Jimbo Fisher/Meyer/Saban. Refuse.

Look at that backwards a-- bumpkin Dabo Sweeney. DABO SWEENEY for Christ's sake!!!! Hes built a frickin monster by recruiting like a mad man in target rich Florida, SC, and Georgia. Is he anyones version of a technical genius????

I agree with the posters who essentially are wishing we had hired someone with "fire in the belly". I now even regret passing on Mullen.

Sadly, we are on this" Mark Richt ride" for as **** long as he wants it.

our only hope, realistically, is he tires of this and agrees to hand it over to Diaz in 2 years.
