It's a **** good thing we didn't hire BUTCH! Aint it?

Why is there so much hate for Davis and the staff he had here? We were pretty good then from what I remember. Most of the fools on this board were definitely not alive when Howard, Jimmy or Dennis were here. Do the youngsters just like the U Part 1 better? It's a mystery to me. Anyone care to venture an answer to the above questions...much appreciated.

Go Canes!

i actually don't dislike butch, but his supporters are so ******* obnoxious and tunnel-visioned, that i have no interest out of spite. we were good under davis for a year and his team went on and won it all after he left, but the contingent of jock riders worship him like some sort of football god. it took him 5 years to put it all together, and they want richt out after 5 games. if butch was in the same position, would he have the same expectations? probably not. also, no one has taken more than a sniff at him since he left unc. he's apparently such a great coach that he doesn't even need to practice his craft and has no scrutiny for spending the last few years as an espn talking head.

butch is a decent gameday coach that was able to recruit very well in the age before the proliferation of social media and national attention on recruiting.

He quickly fired his ***, too.

2007: Shoop's offense was ranked 105th, Butch didn't fire him.

2008: Shoop's offense was ranked 84th, Butch didn't fire him.

2009: Shoop's offense was ranked 99th, Butch didn't fire him.

2010: Shoop's offense was ranked 46th, Butch didn't fire him.

Prior to the 2011 season, Butch got fired and UNC's OC was still John Shoop.
Butch hired MULTIPLE future NFL and collegiate head coaches. All you haters can say is Shoop. SHOOK.

How many of those future HC were any good? We saw what Coker and Shannon did here, Schiano turned around Rutgers, but mostly through smoke and mirrors. Stoops is about to be unemployed in short order at Kentucky. Pagano is really the one guy you can point to as a legit HC, and even then. How much of his success is based on him being in the weakest division in the AFC?

pagano is not a good coach. he's had the benefit of coaching the the worst division in pro football his entire career, and now they're in last place. dude just lost a game when he was up 14 in the 4th quarter to the ****ing texans.

I pointed out the division thing, that said, his record is pretty solid, and teams blow leads. Even the great Bill Bellichick has a couple of those on his record. That said, he's the one coach in the Butch tree that has found any measure of significant success as a HC, outside of Schiano.

Several of Davis' assistant coaches from his head coaching positions have gone on to be NFL and college football head coaches. Three of the coordinators from his time at the University of Miami would go on to be head coaches at either the NCAA or NFL level. Special teams coach Chuck Pagano is head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Greg Schiano would go on to become the head coach of Rutgers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Larry Coker became the head coach of the University of Miami following Davis' departure and is currently the head coach at The University of Texas at San Antonio. In addition to Pagano, Schiano, and Coker, former FIU head coach Mario Cristobal served under Davis as a graduate assistant from 1998 to 2000. Another assistant coach under Davis at Miami who would go on to become a head coach is Randy Shannon. Shannon served as the linebackers coach for Davis' first three years at Miami. Former Tulane football coach Curtis Johnson also was an assistant under Davis at UM. Johnson served as the wide receivers coach from 1996 to 2005. Davis' tight ends coach at the University of Miami was Rob Chudzinski, former head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Chudzinski worked in Cleveland when Davis was the head coach there serving as tight ends coach in 2004.

While with the Cleveland Browns and the North Carolina Tar Heels, three of Davis' assistant coaches went on to serve as head coaches in some capacity. Everett Withers replaced him as the head coach at North Carolina for the 2011 season. Withers is currently the head coach at James Madison University. The secondary coach in Cleveland under Davis, Todd Bowles served as the interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2011 and is now the head coach for the New York Jets.[17] Davis' special teams coach in Cleveland in 2004, Taver Johnson, served as the interim head coach of Arkansas for a brief time during the spring following Bobby Petrino's departure and currently is the cornerbacks coach. Bruce Arians served as offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns under Davis from 2001-2003. After stints as the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts, Arians served as the interim head coach for the Colts and is now head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

Im sorry im with u....i tbink butchs teams beat any team ever.....alabama is creeping close though and copied butchs blueprint. They play exactly like those teams butch coached physical as ***

Butch runs the same exact offense as were seeing and has ran it at everyone of his previous stops.

Do you guys think he would of came in and implemented a Baylor spread here??

:ibis-roflmao-sm4:

Butch would have haad some sort of mealy mouth "back to basics" presser where he'd trot out there double TE, FB looks and start playing ground and pound.

I guess no one claims the Butch banners. Dude was being KILLED on Grassy in his fifth year. Now he's the god of Miami football. People don't learn from history.

If Butch was so great, why didn't he win in 1995, since Richt is supposed to win today after taking over a horsesht roster?

the roster isnt horse****.

WTF are you even talking about? The Miami brand/style of football started way before Botch.. Again, wtf is this football God of yours not coaching anywhere else, why is no one even giving him a call? Give me a good answer, I'll wait.

Imagine.

We could have had the Lion of the coaching ranks prowling the sidelines for us tonight!

The good news is we'll never ever have to worry about the Browns/NFL trying to snatch corch Richt our savior away, now will we?
