Miami had just lost back to back heartbreakers against UVA and UNC. We were 2-4 and the obituary for Manny was written. It was done, and that far off pic of Manny in the stadium after the UNC game summed it all up.

Despite all that, they figured out a way to win 5 of their last 6, and was a Benny Hill-esque final two minutes against FSU from going 6-0 down the stretch.

We all know Manny and Co sucked and they needed to go, and we can say all we want about lucky wins etc, but it was what it was. That coaching staff that everyone wanted gone, sans Lashlee, found a way to win some games even with nothing to play for.

Let’s see if Mario can do something similar, because this team still has plenty to play for.

It's been mentioned a bunch that great coaches all have bad first seasons. And that's very true, for the most part. But what's never mentioned are those coaches usually get signature wins those seasons. Saban lost to ULM but he also beat two ranked teams and played #3 LSU within 1 score. Those seasons are full of ups and downs.

Mario isn't going to win the national championship and he's not going to win 10 games but he needs a few things to happen this season that he can point to as progress, to sell the program.

I think you look at that Clemson game and say, with everything that's gone on, he could go 8-4 but if he beats Clemson that's probably enough.

Beating Clemson seems like a pipe dream. I’m just hoping we finally beat UNC.

I’m not a moper but I expect more of a post FIU collapse in 2019 than some resurgence out of nowhere

Losing a game like FIU or MTSU just shatters any confidence this team was desperately clinging to

I don’t see anyone on this team that’s going to step up and lead them unless Jake Garcia plays out of his mind
