It was Beck who got in Dawson's ear about Fletcher at halftime

Humility and self awareness are not something you see much with high level coaches. Kudos to Dawson
I’ve been meaning to ask this question all season.
Do we have anybody in the booth?

However, would that line of communication with the oc and qb still be there?

I know they can pick up the phone and talk. But I feel that nothing can come close to being on the field as far as direct communication.

But the real flow of the game imo can’t come close to being in the booth.

It really doesn’t make any sense that you spend at least a week scheming for a team while looking for weaknesses with all-22 film but on game day you’re on the sidelines. But then again, these are dudes that have been around the game and know how things look.

Now I’m not saying one is better than the other. But you just can’t have any input from the booth and expect to be elite imo.
But if we do have e some people upstairs then how does the the oc and the dues supporting him not see what the qb and a bunch of people in the fanbase saw?

Let’s take everyone’s favorite Kiffn for example. Does he have doses upstairs that he can reach out to?

Again, this is coming from a football idiot fan like myself.
But when everyone saw it but the dude on the sideline didn’t, then questions should be asked.
Kudos to him for being so honest.
He also gave Mirabal credit last year with that goal line td play call.

We always debate on this site on how much influence Mario has on the offense. I truly do not know for sure, but if anyone thinks Mario told Dawson to run 5 different gadget plays with Malachi in the first half, then your 🥜

I’m starting to believe Dawson is running the entire show on offense. He should get plenty of credit when things go well (last 4 games following SMU), and be subject to criticism when he 💩 the bed (A&M).

He saved the season by getting creative with the offense and forcing teams to defend the perimeter but there’s no way he couldn’t see what everyone else in the world saw on Saturday. That A&M was struggling to stop the inside runs. Fletcher was literally the only one getting yardage and they gave him 7 fist half carries. When your starting running back is getting 7 yards a carry, you should probably keep giving him the ball and not worry about running trick plays.
too many trick plays that went nowhere. i get it for a few but we kept going back to it.

either way, im glad we came out with the W.

lets crush the ****eyes

Welcome aboard!

The plan was probably to hit the edges in the run game. That's also what we were trying to do with all the gimmicks. Texas abused them off-tackle. We hit them up the middle ultimately.
Csn u explain the reason behind why that would be a good gameplan, im genuinely asking. Trying to attack the edge against a team that’s just as talented without the numbers and leverage doesn’t work. It worked on the last play bc we had the numbers and leverage.

Beck and the WRs need to do a better job of being on the same page. Too many times he’s throwing to a spot and him and the WRs are not on the same page.

Props to Carson for disregarding his own stats and wanting what's best for the team.

Of course this turned into a Dawson *****fest instead of focusing on your point. Is it concerning it didn't come from Dawson? Sure. Is it awesome it came from Beck? Absolutely. Love that he spoke up and love that Dawson listened.

The talent and experience we've had at the QB position over the past 2 years in incredible. We've been missing it for 20+ years. The more that comes out about the camaraderie and relationships between the players and staff, the more confident I get in this team.

Dawson was the human on earth that was not thinking what EVERYONE ELSE was already saying …. “They can’t stop the run … keep running”

Sometimes I feel that Dawson needs to go upstairs to the booth... he can't seem to get the flow of the game with all the noise and distraction on the sidelines.

Ray Charles could’ve seen the same thing. That’s literally everything that was being said in the game chat. RUN THE BALL. Their DL is small and wants to rush. Better late than never

Some of you are the types to complain in the middle of receiving a BJ..... which obviously assumes you'd be capable of receiving one.... Yeah, nevermind.

Some of you are just miserable for the sake of being miserable.

That’s concerning to say the least

Dawson strikes me as a decent OC but has no feel for a game once it kicks off. He struggles to adjust to the game type
I mentioned this the other day. His “feel” for calling games is off more than its on. He tends to go whatever well he’s predetermines way too often and he becomes predictable. When he mixes things up, it rarely leads to a payoff later on (run end around 1x and then run it again later with a reverse attached to it).

His play calls in and of themselves are fine, but its how he mixes it up and how he can keep defenses on their toes that will ultimately determine how successful this offense can be moving forward.

And while I don’t have a problem with having players tell you what they see, how did he NOT see that himself early on? What game is he watching?

he doesn't need to be in the booth. we have spotters up there that communicate that to him.
This is the problem I have: The iPads have the images that are passed around to see what the opponents are doing. One would think Dawson would have all that info already via the spotters and iPad images. As nice as it is to have the open communication with the QB, I’m perplexed that Dawson wouldn’t be on top of it. He seems to get caught up in his preconceived planning – and we’ve all seen how he doesn’t adjust the play calling first half. His stubborn cute play calls this game and the “up the tush” runs earlier in the season are good examples.

Saw the same thing during the game on multiple occasions and was wondering if it was Beck or the receiver that was off.
