It’s manny not rumph

we had the top pass defense bc we generate pressure up front with different looks and blitzes and stunts.

when we dont sack the QB our secondary is abysmal. both banda and rumph are awful awful coaches. these kids still cant really play pattern match coverage.

Or maybe it was the "tribalism" coverage they ran, man get yo hoe *** outta here, with that closet racism you bring to the board. And you sound stupid as *****, this is the reason this imbecile said we had the #1 pass defense:

"we had the top pass defense bc we generate pressure up front with different looks and blitzes and stunts."

Imagine that, i didnt know UM was the only defense that gave different looks with stunts and blitzes, just wait til the rest of college football catches up to what we're doing, especially Clemson with the way they recruit, cause they play in the same league and had alot of 1st round draft pick d-linemen, but now we see why they didnt have the #1 pass defense, hey brent veneables, you hearing this, get on it, say it with me: stunts and blitzes, my bad, its "blitzes and stunts".

Again:

Long enough to know how things need to be done and how recruiting has been handled poorly the last 15 years.

No disrespect, but i stopped reading when you said something like " teams dont use the star system for recruiting", clearly you havent been following UM football, because that's exactly what they were doing after butch davis left and skelator took over, how you think jyle wrong ended up here.

Should have said most don’t use it. I think even Dan Mullen was quoted saying they took some guys to boost their rating that they knew wouldn’t qualify. Saban and Dabo etc don’t use it... the players are just ranked based off of Alabama and Clemson or Georgia or whoever offering them so of course it appears that way (if Alabama wants and prioritizes them, they must be a top player so let’s give them 4-5 stars)

When you take a guy like Kool off the staff and replace him with Jess Simpson who is high energy and busts his *** on the trail DL recruiting takes off vs barely fielding a full DL under Kool.

Same thing would happen with CB and DB recruiting if you replace Rumph with a guy like Corey Bell or whoever else.

People though Kool was a great DL coach yet we improved under Simpson who proved to be just as good because he was coaching better players. Same thing could happen at DB.
These simps think all coaches are the same at recruiting. They’re not. It’s sales and game (and sometimes bag work).

Not everyone is a great salesman. It’s a tough fcking racket. That’s why the great ones are in such high demand and make so much loot even if they’re not football scientists coaching in a lab coat.

Again, learn what the term tribalism means, imbecile. Jesus christ I hope you havent reproduced.

Ok, now you talking, and let the Truth be told, the desparate coaches do it all the time, i aint gone say no names, but we got a couple of candidates getting close to that desparation mode when it comes to recruiting, but ill take good coaching and work on the recruiting part anyday of the week!

****, since you good at sounding stupid, how about you define it for the board since we dont know what "tribalism" mean, please enlighten us like you did with how we had the #1 pass defense becaause of "blitzes and stunts". We must of stop doing that this year, you hear that manny, this genius just solved have your problem, get blake baker in here to read this, man why are you still talking clown, we know you from the "Make UM Great Again" era!

Im not sure about the people you referring to but i defend both rumph and banda, can their recruiting improve,of course, but when you had the #1 pass defense in the nation, and the pass efficiency defense was on point to, i know you can coach. What banda did with carter, redwine and knowles, if that dont prove his worth, alot of yall dont want good coaching you just want nerd recruiting site high ranked recruits. When you got people complaining all last year because guys chose to go elswhere, but the secondary was elite thst means their is a disconnect between reality and nerd recruiting sites. Coach rumph proved his worth with whst he did with guys that he coached who played at a level they never played at until he got here, elder, and jackson balled out. Than the guys under coach rumph from scratch, young, bandy and now ivey, and throw Blades in their who was among the tops in the nation in coverage.

But the real problem is this, why are people concerned about the defensive side of the ball, the main one that needs to be replace is blake before anyone else, after that, patke would be on deck, but ill wait and see how this fresh new set of starting linebackers look 1st. We know that brooks is going to be a baller. Come next year coach diaz is going to have to be a better in game band director. The focus of this team needs to soley be on diaz, the coordinators and the weak link offensive assistants. Coach diaz never should've gotten rid of todd hartley, the boys played hard for em, all of them. But that was a cowards move by coach diaz, and its showing.

Redwine is Banda's biggest achievement, and Red went into the 4th round. That's unacceptable by Miami standards - being happy to just get guys drafted. Our fans keep lowering the bar bit-by-bit.

Rumph is a poor recruiter, we all know that. It's been proven over time.

That said, it seemed clear that both Jaden Davis and Asante Samuel were on Rumph's radar but Manny would not let him pull the trigger with offers. So for anyone thinking it's JUST a Rumph problem, i disagree. Recruiting on the defensive side has struggled throughout since Manny arrived. He is a problem at the top.

- 4 star Bethel and Joe Jackson were both recruited by the previous staff and committed before Manny came onboard.
- Outside of Garvin back in 2017, Blissett last year and Chantz/Roberts this year, our Dline recruiting has been average.....it never took off.
- Rousseau, Cam Williams, Hunte, Holley, Miller, Ford.......all 3 star kids.
- We had to get Trevon Hill, Jaelan Phillips, Gerald Willis as transfers.
- DJ Johnson was one of the highest ranked kids to sign but he had to reach out to us to be recruited - then bolted after a year.

LB, his main position of focus, wasn't any better.
- Shaq, McCloud and Pinck were all from the previous staff.
- Wilder, Steed, Jennings, Joyner, TAC, Flagg and even Brooks......all 3 star. I do realize Brooks would have been higher ranked if not for injury.
- Huff is the ONLY 4 star LB brought in under Manny and Co. Let that sink in for a minute.

So for all the stats this defense puts up and how it's supposedly built to be exciting for kids to play in - we can't even land some of the better talent out there. Why? I think you know the answer to that.

Disclaimer: I'm by no means saying many of our 3-star kids are not talented. They are....and in some cases more talented than some 4 star kids in their class. I'm just using the rankings as data points because our recruiting has been lacking and those rankings are usually a good indicator.
Youre missing the point. Its not about the stars, we need actuall players at the position. Id be fine with having 2 more 3 stars committed. The problem is we have 1 guy in this class and he isnt really a corner yet.

The hoops people jump through to defend a coach that clearly is not earning his keep.

Like...why? You didn't do it for Jon Richt. You didn't do it for Butch Barry or Dan Enos...but Mike Rumph gets every "but" you guys have to offer.

I get it, he's a former 'Cane...but you either producing or you are not...and he is not. I'd like Rumph to take others with him, but if its just Rumph, its just Rumph.

This is my problem as well. There is no reason today that a guy like Hodges or Brown aren’t committed to Miami except that the staff failed to convince them.

At least there would be numbers to potentially develop.

I don't think i'm missing the point at all. I think you did. I said Rumph's recruiting is lacking. The depth is awful. I just took it further and showed that it's an entire defensive staff issue that has been around Manny's tenure. It's why we also lack quality depth at other positions. It's why we had to go out and get so many transfers on defense.

Man you guys idea of “elite recruit” is crazy.

If rumph left we still ain’t getting the top 5 star kids

We aren’t getting anyone though. We aren’t getting elite linebackers either but at least we’ve been getting Brooks, Cave, Joyner, etc.

No worries if we’re gonna have bodies there in the spring or not

Please stop with this incessant line of excuses old and new for Rumph. Why do you guys feel such an overwhelming need to cape for this dude? Just stop.

Look at the list of guys FROM HIS OWN HS THAT HE COACHED AND WHO GREW UP PLAYING UNDER HIM. He got none of them.

He’s probably a good dude, and I’m sure his friends like him and some dudes want to make excuses for him for other reasons. But he’s proven to be a horrific recruiter. When a guy is coaching 6 dudes he needs to be an elite recruiter. This guy isn’t even to the level of bad.

Hiring Rumph and whiffing at AH has to be one of the biggest recruiting blunders in our history, and that's saying something. It was bad given the connection he had as their former coach and worse given that the talent and depth at CB hasn't recovered.

Ya good point. I think I misread the reasoning behind your post but I agree.
