It’s kinda funny

I’ll tell ya this , next time you have some spare time on your hands go look at Oregon’s last four coaching hires. After you do that go look at these coaches resume‘s prior to getting the Oregon head job. After reading that ask yourself is that a top tier job? Top tier jobs aren’t hiring those guys. Now Mario has a resume but back then he had nada.
Bellotti made the program relevant. He wanted to keep that going so prompted Chip. Chip at the time was considered one of the elite coaches. Played in a national title. Went to the NFL.

Oregon follows their recipe for success and promotes Chip’s OC. Helfrich got off to a hot start first two seasons and plays in a national title before flaming out.

Oregon conducts national search to go in a different direction. Taggary is one of the hotter coaching options at that times fresh off a 10-2 season at USF. Hindsight is 20/20 but at the time he was considered a hot commodity.

Mario was then promoted. Weird move. But it’s worked out so far. Point is, if you actually look at the process you realize these weren’t desperate moves. These were moves made with intention. And it’s worked out for the most part. They have like the 7th most wins over the last 15 years and have played in 2 title games. No wins lol but still pretty decent run.

It’s a nice program but it has a ceiling. That ceiling will shrink when Usc gets back going , most of Oregon’s success is when Usc is in the crapper.

I’m embarrassed. Other than Kiffin smoke who else is reportedly interested?

I love Cribby. But preach what? That was such a gross oversimplification of the state of the Oregon program. We're all not that dumb to actually believe any of that is true. Right?

Show me where I said a single thing that was false. They had 2 coaches in a 30 yr span who didn't win a title. Belloti was an internal hire. Chip Kelly was a successful internal hire who left as soon as he got a NFL HC offer. where was all the Nike money to keep him? Credit to Kelly for having a championship caliber team (btw he was an offensive guru and a horrendous recruiter) , so where was the money to keep Kelly? And where were the big time coaches who wanted to take over? They went with their own nobody OC. If you want to be real, Oregon hiring Helfrich was worse than Miami hiring Diaz. At least Diaz ran his own defense, Helfrich was trying to do a Chip Kelly imitation.

After Helfrich flopped, where were the big time P5 HCs ready to their schools for Oregon? They got perhaps the worst coach in cfb, Mr Turnover Purse himself, Willie Taggart from USF. And Taggart said *f#ck this place" and left as soon as a better job opened. Oregon couldn't match FSU? Didn't matter if they could because Taggart didn't want to be there. So did they learn from their mistake and go big with the next hire? Nope, they hired their OL coach (who hadn't been a HC since being fired by FIU several years before) because they couldn't attract any big names. And you want to know what is extra hilarious? Everyone knows Cristobal was going to leave Oregon for UM in 2018 (meaning the 2nd coach in a row that left Oregon for another P5 job after one year) but Blake James f#cked up and hired Diaz instead. So where is this delusional narrative that top coaches actually want to be at Oregon coming from?

It sounds like you think Oregon is basically just a G5 program that has no appeal and if that’s the case then I’m not sure there’s anything I can say to convince you otherwise.

Mario Cristobal Rumors

"We're at the point in the season where we are going to see a lot of Mario Cristobal rumors. We know there is already a lot of talk from Miami about the Hurricanes wanting to target Cristobal as their top guy should they move on from Manny Diaz, which is very possible after this season.

Here is the rub from what we are told. If this was 2018 there would be a chance this could go do. But this isn't 2018 anymore. The programs are in totally different places. The Hurricanes only real advantage over Oregon is that they are "home" for Cristobal and his family and the ability to recruit in a short area for all your players. Every other factor Oregon has the edge. Most importantly, Oregon is set up for a playoff run over the next few seasons, starting now. We're told he doesn't want to walk away from that right now. He's committed to the program and the long-haul. Now things could change, we've seen it before. On our end, there isn't anything out there to really get too worried about yet."

Hopefully USC can get their sh*t together and shut these idiots up.
I was reading some stuff on their private thread this afternoon. No one really has any idea where their search is going; candidates have risen and then fallen on their board ... Latest rumor is it won't be resolved before early signing day; somehow recruits thought it would be announced by Dec 5th and there was a very big OV weekend planned. Now the talk is it may extend up to the playoffs since there are candidates of interest that may be involved in that.

No, not saying they are like a G5. I grew up in Oregon. Both my sisters are Ducks. I know that program well. U of O is a good, solid P5 program but it's basically a flashier Wisconsin. They aren't even the most desirable program in the Pacific NW. Most coaches, given the choice between Oregon and Washington, would choose UW. As I pointed out in another thread, even Nike thought Oregon was 2nd tier to UW and up to 2019, UW had a more lucrative Nike deal than Oregon. Ambitious, established P5 HCs will not go to Oregon. Some top tier P5 OC looking for his first HC job might be interested. Or a top tier G5 HC looking for a stepping stone to get to a better P5 than Oregon could be interested as well. Ducks are my 2nd favorite program (family ties) but their fans have a massively inflated opinion of themselves which the facts simply don't support.

They shot their load for unrealistic names , now they must reevaluate things lol. That’s just my opinion.
