It’s Chaney, not Mario

It doesn’t matter for all the f*ckups. TVD, the bad call to run.

Because it is not and wasn’t a fumble. I’ve watched it 100 times now.

Forward progress should have been whistled by the refs to avoid possible injuries and additional contact BUT with that said his elbow was down. It is BLATANT and OBVIOUS.

There should be immediate action taken by the team, led by the administration, and aided by the fans. Every possible avenue should be utilized to scream from the mountain tops for an appeal and overturning of this call.

It has not only ACC championship rankings, championship implications, but recruiting impacts, and most importantly for CFB - possible playoff implications.

Please @DMoney and @Peter Ariz make noise within the program. Tell them how important it is that they try and fight this. And all of us need to be LAF on social media and send out as many emails as necessary to know that someone is pushing for the correct call to be made. On ESPN they don’t even mention the fumble call.

It is 10000% down. And is obvious and can be changed to where completion of the game can be easily redone. And Miami would be 5-0 with an ugly win that they managed to get despite their QB gifting the Gatech defense with his worse completed game EVER. Our players fought through all of that to gut out a victory that Mario should have kneeled away. But nonetheless WE WON. And if the ACC/NCAA can’t/won’t make this right I want an asterisk next to UMs name for every game with an explanation.

lol take a knee

Dumb call by the staff.

Dumb attempt to get more yards by Chaney.

Dumb call by the refs on the review.

Dumb play by Couch.

Dumb play by Kam.

Multiple levels of dumb and we lost.

Dumb is talking about it still. It won't change a thing, we've got it.
we wouldn't have to blame Kam, refs, couch, Chaney if it weren't for Mario and his staff. they put those kids who had the game won in that spot. need to beat UNC or 4-3 becomes real

yes, but it goes both ways b/c Dawson gets lauded for throwing the vertical against aTm based on the result.

Yesterday Dawson called the game the way he wanted, and the question of whether Mario should have stepped in or not is completely based on the outcome of the game.

The L is on Mario's shoulders for sure, but I believe some objective fans are suggesting the performance requires everyone to take personal responsibility.
MUCH different because we did that to secure the win.. against GT the win WAS ALREADY SECURED!!!! TAKE A ******* KNEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fans tend to have fairly objective views on matters, while fanatics will try to justify & rationalize any bull chit.

Here’s the problem which no one is bringing up, including the media; I tend to record games, & rewatch as a CFB fan v. Hurricane fan on replay:

1. With 2:05 left on the clock, we had the ball at 2nd & 5 in their territory. GT had 2 T.Os left. Chaney rushed for 4.5 yards, making it 3rd & inches. GT uses a T.O, which means we had to discuss the next play.

2. We get the first down w/ ease, forcing GT to call their final T.O w/ 1:57 to go. It’s now 1st & 10 with under 2 min play. The clock is stopped, but upon the whistle, we have 25 secs to run a play. Again, b/c GT called a time out, that meant we had discuss the situation, ONCE AGAIN.

3. Now, some of ya’ll mofos might not know this, but I’m a low key genius when it comes to numbers (legit). So pls follow ur boy down the World of Count Dracula:

-IF we snapped the ball on first down, & let’s just say for the sake of argument since GT can’t stop the clock, TAKE A KNEE, we would’ve run off roughly 3-4 secs. So let’s do some counting:

1. 1st & 10 (knee). Game clock would be roughly around 1:54/3. Play clock now reset to 40 sec.

2. 2nd & 11 (knee). We snap the ball at the 39 sec mark + another 3 secs to kneel, which brings the game clock to roughly 1:12/11. Play clock now resets to 40.

3. 3rd & 12 (knee). We snap the ball at the 39 sec mark + another 3 secs to knee, which brings the game clock to roughly 30/29 secs.

4. 4th & 13. Well, wouldn’t u know we get another 40 secs to snap the ball, but there’s only 30/29 secs left on the game clock which means…u guessed it, there’s no need to run a play.

Tada! Game over.

The most infuriating thing about this loss is there were two opportunities to discuss this on GT’s dime. There’s a reason why once the clock reaches two minutes and the other team can’t stop the clock, the game is over. 2 mins = 120 secs. The offense now has 120 secs to run plays + the 1-3 secs it takes to hike and take a knee.

The fact we continued to run plays once we picked up the first down needed to bleed GTs timeouts was egregious in itself. Jimmy told us to NEVER leave it in the refs hands, & we did. The fact there was even a discussion on holding on to the ball w/ two hands, etc is mind boggling. The discussion should’ve been we only need one more 1st down, and once we get it, victory formation.

Trying to blame Couch (who grossly misplayed the ball), Kam (who grossly overplayed a route), Chaney (who allegedly fumbled), the refs (who allegedly got the call wrong), the DJ, the media, whoever & whomever is ALL MOOT B/C THE GAME WAS OVER, AND WE DID STOOPID **** TO HAND GT AN UNNECESSARY W!

If any fanatic can’t see that ****, stop following football b/c you all sound dumb, goofy, drunk, stupid af for trying to blame anything and anyone besides the HC who’s in charge of this ****.
QFT!!! I been saying this in as many threads as possible but people want to blame others or something, even posting video.. The game was been over and we kept running where three knees and game is over

Chaney fumbled. It happens, but without that no one talks about not taking a knee.

Importantly, we asked Mario to get out of the way and let Dawson do his job. He did and we blame him because Chaney fumbled. Not right. Mario was self accountable when he said that he should have stepped in. He did not put Dawson under the bus.
Chaney did not fumble and the whole world sees this

I think it's also on our greedy low iq QB. Too dumb & worried solely about money to say "hey I think we should kneel" after he shaved points all night like he's done multiple times in the past. Nice Van Dyme shirts though ******* losers.
Tvd cares about money so much that he handed the ball off?

I played football from 6 until college. The call by Mario was a terrible decision. He put his love for his player above his responsibilities as head of a program/business. His confidence unabashed confidence in Chaney in that moment because of that call by the referees cost him, the team, and maybe the program dearly.

He wanted to reward Chaney for coming back from so much with the two knee surgeries and had resolute faith in Chaney not to fumble the football. As a player those traits in a coach caring about, trusting a player so much can mean the difference between being a “team player” or being willing to truly sacrifice your body, your stats, and even PT for the team.

That is what makes this whole thing more tragic and the referee’s unacceptable call that much more gut wrenching.

Cristobal’s intentions though incorrect were pure and it could be the single handed defining moment of his professional career. If this team spirals he loses all trust and an already fireable offense, makes losing a job very plausible.

With that in mind this administration should have been on a 48 mission to do everything in their power to fight/reverse this call through a media barrage. Trying to break down the institutes of the ACC and NCAA with a reversal.

Well put.

His job was to protect the win and he failed miserably in that regard.

Looking forward to a better performance in Chapel Hill.

this. Dawson called that play with. 1 score game and more than 30 seconds left. hes not calling a vertical down field pass in that spot. this is the second time Mario has done this. we know he isnt a great game day manager but man that was trash

You started off this post completely wrong because he did in fact NOT fumble.

But that’s two separate things: How we called the overall O-scheme, put that on Dawson. But that 2 min stretch where the Ajax is involved in discussion? Come on; let’s stop the shenanigans. We’re acting like Mario was off somewhere in a corner with no headset. He’s there; and if he remotely heard Dawson say anything contrary to taking a knee after picking up that last first down w no T.O’s on GT side, he needs to make overturn. He’s the P5 coach, not Dawson. He’s the HC, not Dawson.

Mario legit had this happen to him twice. it isnt all on Dawson.

Clear financial damages. File a civil suit. Lol would be entertaining at least but can’t imagine that hasn’t been tried thousands of times. But ACC should get publicly blasted for their incompetence or rigged games. Hate this **** conference and would love anything that brings negativity towards it.
How about finding others and a nice Class Action lawsuit? LOL

Who's we? I said "The L is on Mario's shoulders for sure."

It was as irresponsible and inexcusable a coaching decision as I can remember; I was stunned in real-time when they kept handing it off after the first down. I rode the rollercoaster and watched that debacle with just as much frustration and disappointment as anyone else.

However, as an objective fan, I also hope everyone that can contribute to a win this Saturday takes responsibility and realizes []__[] need to be much better.

I just want to see a a more disciplined and focused football team against UNC. That's it! Nothing else matters.

Family friend reffed Ivy League games and after ******* up a call the Yale coach got his whole crew blackballed from Ivy games.

Rad needs to make sure the same punishment is exacted.

These clowns shouldn't be officiating HS football games.
These refs let GT tackle Bain with no flag

chaney didnt fumble and its on the coaches to put them in the best position to win.
Actually the ball came lose so he DID fumble…whether he hit ground first is debatable but the **** ball got out as he FOUGHT for yards for some unknown stupid reason

Talk about situational awareness or lack therof!

Making excuses about any help their offense received is ridiculous. They had less than 200 yards before the Cristofail. They only scored 1 TD on their own. If you make a pie chart of the responsibilities for the outcome of that game the refs would be 2%.

What play did you watch? I’ve said Cristobal beyond messed up and allowed his passion for his player (wanting Cheney to get 100) and his faith in said player not to fumble, Which he did not, cloud his judgement. Which is inexcusable.

But the still shots on the play show him with full control of the ball while his body is down.

There hasn’t been a call that has been this egregious, that wasn’t a judgement call, ie holding, pass interference. None that has such a tangible, enormous impact on the program. The referees should be held accountable and a precedent should have been set by reversing and replaying the end of that game.

That isn’t going to happen now but UM admin should be loudly condemning the ACC/NCAA until they at least admit they missed the call.
