Is there gonna be an "open" QB competition?

I get that they came in with different resumes. And I used what everyone said about Tate as an example. It’s Kings job to lose. My point was that if King looks like *** all spring, they aren’t just going to start him because he transferred to us. That would be dumb on the staffs part. You misinterpreted what I was saying
He should be the starter regardless of all that crap.

WILLIAMS UPDATE

"According to a source close to Jarren Williams, his initial mind-set — after hearing of King’s plans to transfer to UM — is to go through spring practice, see where he stands and then make a decision about his future, though it assuredly would require an injury to King for Williams to have any chance of starting."

"But the source said the situation is fluid. And it wouldn’t be surprising if Williams leaves at any time.

"Some inside UM have grown weary of public comments by Williams’ father since his arrival and immaturity issues with Williams. It remains to be seen whether UM will encourage him to move on."

"N’Kosi Perry, Tate Martell, Tyler Van Dyke and Payton Matocha are the other scholarship quarterbacks on Miami’s roster besides King and Williams. A thinning at the position is expected and inevitable.

I see TVD and Perry sticking around with hopes of starting in 2021.

Gonna be interesting around here if king ends up not as advertised or struggles a few games. Say he starts 1-3 like last year

Would want Perry to stay. He’s grown up a lot and could be a positive in the QB room because of that. I’ll take a player that’s always striving to get better

I sure hope not. I'm fine with giving it a couple of practices just for GP, but there's no reason to go almost to the start of the season trying to give 3-4 guys meaningful reps. Name King the starter and be done with it.

It should be open competition....................................................for 2nd string

Are you seriously worried about one of the guys on the roster beating out King?

King will be the starter day 1 bro

Just think of the scenarios where King doesn't start at then tell me which one of those ends with Manny keeping his job. Because the answer is zero.

He's a great fit for Lashlee's offense and we already know the guys we have aren't good.

So if he's not getting it done, there's zero chance someone like Perry will somehow be an upgrade. I know it's shocking to hear but this kid has the same impact potential Hurts would have had last year. He's already proven he's really good. This isn't Tate with 20 career passes. This kid had 50 touchdowns in 1 season

So if he struggles it's likely because the OL is getting him killed and/or we aren't running a spread like was promised. And why worry if we go 1-3 to start? That'll mean Diaz is for sure fired because even Flake can't keep him if he goes 2-10. Win-win here

I don't know, I was hoping for another year of "he's our man" and "he had the best practice" and then switching QBs 3 times each game like the last 2 years.
