Is there gonna be an "open" QB competition?

If King doesnt start, we'd better get really good at evaluating, recruiting and developing QB's because no transfer QB is going to want to come here. That would be two high profile QB's who transferred here and didn't start two years in a row.

Despite all of the positivity right now, Manny still understands that the only way to guarantee not getting fired is to win 10 games. Now, with this schedule and all of the talent that's on the team, I don't know that 9 games is enough. Point is - he doesn't have time to dork around and go through polite protocol. He will install King as the starter and give him starter reps from the get go. If he has an aneurysm and doesn't do that, then anything negative that may come from not starting King immediately, will be well deserved. But, come on...he's gonna name King the starter from the get and try and get to 10 wins.

King is your walk in starter

only way he isn’t if for some reason he half asses learning the playbook, misses meetings, and generally looks awful in practice

even then still he is your starter lol

It’s not just about making throws at practice. We need a true leader, a gamer, somebody whos gonna put in the work during the week, who is not going to completely come apart after throwing a pick. The other 3 guys haven’t shown any of those traits. So Qb1 should be king, let him get the reps and move forward.

You were not going to get this kid to commit on a promise to compete. So barring any major setback (like an injury) he is starter from day 1

WILLIAMS UPDATE

"According to a source close to Jarren Williams, his initial mind-set — after hearing of King’s plans to transfer to UM — is to go through spring practice, see where he stands and then make a decision about his future, though it assuredly would require an injury to King for Williams to have any chance of starting."

"But the source said the situation is fluid. And it wouldn’t be surprising if Williams leaves at any time.

"Some inside UM have grown weary of public comments by Williams’ father since his arrival and immaturity issues with Williams. It remains to be seen whether UM will encourage him to move on."

"N’Kosi Perry, Tate Martell, Tyler Van Dyke and Payton Matocha are the other scholarship quarterbacks on Miami’s roster besides King and Williams. A thinning at the position is expected and inevitable.
