Is talent down in CFB this year?

If you are, you picked a really bad year for it.
I'm here to simply enjoy USF content. USF rarely gets any media coverage. Any type of content is pretty limited. Now that we are playing UM there is just so much USF-connected content I get to read now...well, until after the game, and then we will be an afterthought.

I was speaking more to the fundamentals of the position. Talent will always be there, but watching these "5*" trying different arm angles and struggling to identify hot reads and the footwork is gross. Seems like the basics are being lost and the 4th and 5th year guys are the only legitimate QBs.
That's mostly a nature vs nurture situation.

The QB's you see thriving are multi-sport athletes with Baseball/Basketball backgrounds.

Take a kid like Austin Simmons, big time Baseball arm & as a Red FR has come in & hit the ground running.

It's more about natural ability & being able to build up to being a next level passer. The 5-star QB's you see struggling never had the perquisite natural ability as pure passers; they were mostly overrated kids who either benefitted from playing weak comp in HS, or played on loaded teams & could mask their actual ability by being surrounded with superior talent.

I don't think the 7v7 aspect of new age QBin' has affected the talent pool overall in the net negative, because even the best ones play 7v7 year-round. What has changed QB play over time is that Offenses are faster paced & more wide open, which has decreased the amount of time QB's have to process. In the old Pro-style 5-7 step drop era, everything was all about mechanical coordination & intangible capability, now in today's era, it's primarily about athleticism & natural arm talent.

The best QB's in College & the NFL nowadays, are the athletes & gunslingers; when back in the day, being called an athlete or a Gunslinger as a QB was considered an insult.

college is coming more like the nfl, kids are getting paid and sometimes that can take away your hunger to work hard, just a guess. I mean the kids who really want it, yes they will work, but if you can become a millionaire in college, youve made it
