You’re conflating separate issues. I am critical of our roster management, but that is on Richt, not Searels. We are already operating at probation level scholarship numbers. Waiting until after the bowl to do anything, will likely result in devastatingly low scholarship numbers.
No one is getting fired.
I think richt is awful and will fail. Is failing. But you asked why he might not make a change before the bowl game, amd I answered you. If you imagine yourself in his shoes, it’s not hard to see. Now, he may well make no changes after the bowl game, either. But right now, I expect he’s trying to figure out how to put up a W to help the final recruiting push.
I’m quite sure you think so. But it ain’t. And I listed the reasons above. Name a program that doesn’t have a “step back” year. All programs go through it including programs run by Saban and Meyer.
Or just hire a Kingsbury and no one gives a **** about who the OL coach is.Well most assistants don’t get fired until after the bowl or signing day.
Also, if you have a bad recruiting class like ours you probably wait until signing day so you don’t lose the few recruits you have
By hiring Kingsbury... that'd just about solve some of the negativity around the awfense. But Richt wont change a thing, weve seen this movie before.I think richt is awful and will fail. Is failing. This is more than a step back year. We are 7-5 with massive negativity surrounding the program and a fractured locker room. We are already operating at sanctions level scholarship numbers, and our recruiting class is imploding.
Richt is at a crossroads, just like Golden was year 3. If Richt chooses to handle it the same way Golden did, he won’t recover. The recruiting base has lost confidence in Richt. If he doesn’t bounce back in 2019 in a major way, the death cycle won’t be stopped.
The answer is NO and NO. Any staff changes would be made after the bowl game. Doubtful any changes happen this year because Richt thinks next year will be different. He believes he'll have his best offensive line since joining UM and he's probably right about that. The question is how well will they perform? If he were, he would have done something by now, right? You don’t let your ****** OL coach and your son continue to go out and recruit and be the target of massive negative recruiting if you aren’t keeping them around, right?
Golden had a slim chance to turn things around at the end of his 3rd year too, and did absolutely nothing. That was the real end of his tenure at Miami even though he lasted another year and a half. Would be pretty amazing if Richt fell victim to the exact same circumstances.
Sigmund the seed monster. Horrible comparisons. They were always moving forward in terms of innovation and recruiting. And how did we fare in our trip to the Acc championship? We were exposed for what we were the entire season. This year we weren’t able to overcome our deficiencies. We could have easily been and 8-4 or even a 7-5 team last year.I’m quite sure you think so. But it ain’t. And I listed the reasons above. Name a program that doesn’t have a “step back” year. All programs go through it including programs run by Saban and Meyer.
