Is NC State Actually Good?

I follow the PGA tour intently. Weekly, I’m incredibly invested in a lot of ways. I think a lot about Xander Schauffele. It’s not apples to apples, obviously. But if there was a CIS of PGA Tour golf, the narrative would be Xander sucks. He’s a choke artist. He can’t win. He’ll never win. He’s a mental midget. Which held true for a while…until it didn’t, and he won 2 majors in the same year. The entire time he “sucked” he was continuously putting himself into position to win. Top 5, top 10, almost every time. Then he broke through and became one of the best players of his generation. I think this way for sports in general. Yeah, I’m ****ed. I wanna win. But what we’re doing isn’t THAT far off from where we need to be. Maybe Mario and Miami never get there. Who knows. But I’d much rather be in a position be in the conversation time again rather than just getting dusted like we’ve been for basically 20 years.

Xander's first win last year was fantastic to watch. Great story of Xander and his dad.

But the line is 15.5 for a reason. Their defense is a puddle of diarrhea. It is legit worse than USF and we scored 48 against USF. Go score 17 points on our first 3 drives and make them have to press on offense.

Yeah the money line is legit the only thing I have some calm from regarding this game. My hope is Beck can look like FSU Beck. Find that confidence.

CJ Carr: 11 yards per attempt, 342 yards
Mason Heintschel: 8.8 yards per attempt, 423 yards
Haynes King: 11.7 yards per attempt, 408 yards

That’s what the last 3 QBs have done to NC State.

King isn’t even a good passer and he just torched these dudes.

If we finish this game and Beck is like 21/30 for 245 yards everyone involved with the program should be fired into the sun.

Miami is winning tomorrow. NC State will give us a scare early. All I ask is we get Marion and Pringle more touches. Speed speed speed.

Scott loss hurts, but our defense is fine. We score 30+ and it won’t be close
 
They'll put a lot of stress on our LBs. They have really good skill position players and love using their TEs around the middle of the field. Mo and Wes will be targeted. This is a game where we'll really miss scott. If we don't come out strong on offense, I can envision a game similar to UL, at least to start.

Who are the "HS level" coaches?
I'm not good with Mario's game day coaching and I think we're in the majority, but I disagree on the assistant coaches.

The best Miami defense in 20 years and y’all scared. ***** crazy. As for the offense? We’ve seen 5-6 worse offenses at UM in a 10-15 year period. Our team is in good shape. One week at a time
 
This is my problem with our offense (and by implication Mario and Dawson).

Everyone agrees that NC State’s defense is trash, yet their offense has talent at key skill positions (QB, RB, WR, and TE) and is capable of attacking defenses with the run and pass. NC State has the potential to put up crooked numbers, especially since we are missing 2 starters in the secondary and banged up at DT with limited depth in the middle.

The coaching staff can devise an offensive game plan that either attacks their weaknesses (the NC State defense), or limits their strengths (the NC State offense). I want a head coach that believes we should relentlessly attack their weakness. Go for the kill. That means throw the ball at will and run occasionally to keep them honest. Use your OL to control the clock late in the game when you are up by 2+ scores. Devise a game plan that goes right at them relentlessly.

That’s not what Mario (and by extension, Dawson) does. Mario wants to neutralize NC State’s strengths. Play it safe. Keep the ball away from NC State’s offense. Limit their opportunities to score. Run the ball and burn the clock. Rely on the perceived strength of the team (the OL) to win the game.

While I recognize that you can win football games either way, we always seem to favor the more conservative approach.

Our philosophy on offense is boring and goes against the DNA of this program. Give me a head coach (or OC) that goes for the jugular and doesn't play it safe.

Nobody is concerned about the talent level. It’s the coaches not using it correctly. There’s a reason we’ve already lost to 2 teams that are worse than us. And it’s not bc the team wasn’t in “good shape” or good enough to win those games.

Sure, upsets happen and it ****es me off too. But we got some fans going into game thinking we gonna lose like we the underdogs. Treating us like VT lol

Those are some pretty ugly stats. Beck needs a rhythm early and light these guys up. I refuse to believe we don't have a better passing game than GT.👀

Plus a 65 yard FG with ball bouncing off the uprights for about fifteen minutes before it falls good .
