Coaching Is Manny Diaz the next Dabo Swinney?

Stopped reading after “Richt abandoned us”

Mark Richt honorably stepped down when he realized that physically and emotionally he was unfit to lead the team any further.

He let the university off the hook financially so there would be no constraints on the school when searching for his predecessor.

….then Blake James took that free gift…and squandered it on Manny Diaz.

You can bump this post if manny ever does anything worth wild. But as of right now he’s a
Corch.

Is Manny Diaz the next Dabo Swinney?

The canes are 2-2 with victories against Appalachian State and Central Connecticut State and losses to Alabama and Michigan State. We have the same records are Clemson, which has wins against Georgia Tech and South Carolina State and losses to Georgia and NC State. Similar wins and losses for both teams.

A disillusioned, fervent, and mostly lunatic Miami fan base who expects the Canes to be undefeated and competing for a national championship after Manny Diaz’s third year as the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes. Let’s get rid of the guy that bleeds orange and green when he is at the precipice of greatness at Miami. Let’s do it, just because we are Miami.

Let’s ignore the fact that Mark Ritch abandoned us as he ended his fourth year at Miami with a 7-6 record and a loss to Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl. Why did he leave? Could it be because he recruited the juniors and seniors in the 2021 team? Did he recruit the wrong guys? After all, we did get blown again, could not compete, in the ACC Championship game a year earlier against Dabo Swinney. Ritch’s honeymoon was over in Miami, and he knew it.

Before we make Manny’s life impossible, before we run off the guy that gives us the best chance to make Miami relevant again, let’s look at Dabo Swinney’s career as the head coach of the Clemson Tigers. In his first three years, he went 4-3, 9-5, 6-7. Yes, the coach that has won two national championships started his career with a record similar to Manny Diaz. Dabo thought he was going to get fired after the loss to Steve Spurriers South Carolina Gamecocks in the 2010 season in the meeting he had with the Clemson AD Terry Don Phillips. It wasn’t until 2011 that Clemson was able to achieve a 10-win regular season, which subsequently ended in a devastating 70-33 loss to West Virginia in the Orange Bowl. If Dabo was our coach, he might have not lasted with a 13-8 record through his first two years.

Miami and their fans need to stick with Manny Diaz because he can be the next Dabo Swinney that can guide the Miami program to the pinnacle of college football, going toe-to-toe against the likes of Alabama and Ohio State.
I have a few questions. Who is your dealer and what kind of crank are you smoking?

Is Randy Shannon the next Dabo Swinney?

The canes are 2-2 with victories against Charleston Southern and Texas A&M and and losses to Florida and North Carolina. We have the same records are Clemson, which has wins against Georgia Tech and South Carolina State and losses to Georgia and NC State. Similar wins and losses for both teams.

Let’s ignore the fact that Larry Coker was fired us as he ended his sixth year at Miami with a 7-6 record and a win to Nevada in a bowl that nobody remembers. Why did he leave? (Because he crashed a Ferrari and couldn't repair it.) Could it be because he recruited the juniors and seniors in the 2006 team? Did he recruit the wrong guys? Coker's honeymoon was over in Miami, and he knew it.

....The sad part is... I didn't have to change that much.

Whether Manny is Dabo Part Dos or not, Dabo would not have been Dabo at Miami. He'd have been fired.

Miami hasn’t had a knack for firing that quickly. Everyone has had a 4+ years. If anything they’ve been late on the trigger.

Ehhh... This really wasn't always the case. Programs don't build themselves overnight.

Clemson's recruiting rankings in Dabo's first years:
2009 - 36
2010 - 27
2011 - 10
2012 - 20

For what it's worth, Miami out-recruited Clemson 3 of those 4 years.

Manny's classes so far:
2019 - 27
2020 - 17
2021 - 11

Not defending Manny, but Dabo would have been run out of town with his early record & recruiting rankings if he was at Miami.

Untrue.

Miami was ranked as high as #2 in the country WHILE MANNY WAS OUR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. Now, we are unranked.

There's a legitimate reason to question why Manny hasn't had Miami better faster than what Dabo did at Clemson.

If Miami's ONLY problem over the last 2.25 seasons was "bad offense", maybe there would be a bit more forgiveness for Manny. But that is not the case.

OP, you posted this to Facebook too huh?

What happened to the weekly games where we guessed yards, points, etc?

Why does this **** with Dabo always come up??? I don't want Dabo the clown or anyone like that. Our school is not going to get the best coordinators that money can buy and have a coach just be a CEO type. So why don't we just hire a real head coach with real head coaching experience who can get the most out of his players and isn't obsessed with yachts, gold chains, **** TNM slogans, and such. If our next head coaching candidate is asked to write a four page essay as part of his interview and he responds with " I'll give you four lines but I'll be damned if I'm going to write four pages!" Hire him on the spot.

I have a prediction:

OP's porst will be resurrected later in the season, probably during the UNC Game. Under "This didn't Age Well".

Manny needs to recruit a REAL QB, not this peewee league running QB's . We Miss Erickson, Torreta, Kosar, Kelly, Testaverde, Steve Walsh, Erickson. They didn't need to run. They were smart and accurate and could think on the fly. These Peewee League Running QB's is Manny Diaz greatest mistakes. And his loyalty to losing QB's is not altruistic, it's driving Miami to a Second League Team
