Is Lane off the Table?

Guys, I cannot 100% confirm that Kiffin is plan B. But I’m fairly certain he is a contingency plan

What I do know is:

Kiffin and Mario have the same agent Jimmy Sexton

In a span of 12 hour Ole Miss and Oregon are leaking that they have contract extensions/modifications out to Kiffin and Mario respectively

Kiffin and Mario have had a TON of time to lock in something with each of their schools but elected not to….. because Miami

This is my opinion, but from what I gather there is a little jostling to finalize the pairing of HC and AD…. With Mario getting first crack, but also knowing Kiffin is on standby so Miami does hold a little bit of leverage

I wouldn't be suprised to find out that conversations with Mario go back to last year and probably began seriously after the FIU loss.

Looks like he's holding a shake weight

Miami being played by Jimmy Sexton. Smart dude.

I agree lane could be great but he just has shown no ability to turn around a culture and build something that is sustainable.

I posted in another thread but I feel like we need a Richt @ UGA type of coach and stability to build our brand back up and I feel strongly that mario fits that mold better

The *** Man Jimmy Sexton represents nearly every Head Coach of the major P5 schools.

He’s also represents a ton of NFL players too, he’s the Co-Head of CAA the largest sports agency in the world.

He’s basically the Scott Boras of Football.

If I'm Lane Kiffin I would look to stay at Ole Miss. He's in a great place there. If he signs the extension my guess is that Cooper Manning's kid will sign with Ole Miss. He'll have an elite level QB for the next four years. As well, the expectations at Ole Miss will always be to finish second in their division.

At some point a guy like Kiffin needs to stay somewhere long enough to truly build something rather than putting up a decent season or two and taking the next flavor of the month job.

Maybe right but Mario needs to knock the coordinators out of the park because someone like Joe freaking Morehead isn’t going to cut it here. Also I want nothing to do with Oregons DC. Need to get Muschamp on the phone.

Manning is not as good as people hype him up to be. Lane would be fine here for a long time. He loves South Florida, the only way he leaves is if someone is offering a big time NFL job or Bama. I’m fine with that, because that means he won a championship here.
