Is Keyshawn Smith our best WR

It’s a misleading question, imo. Head coaches have ultimate authority, but if they run around regularly second guessing their position coaches on substitutions during games, they’re going to fail.

What they need to do is be prepared, and part of that is making sure their assistants are on the same page as them regarding lineup and substitution patterns. You do it before the game, hopefully not during, unless it’s a quarterback change or someone really messed up.

As for ‘favorites‘ (the post you responded to asked about them), it’s the wrong term. Maybe some kids are better kids, practice better, follow instructions better. That’s sports, no problem liking the kids who are on board. But the issue is usually the coach’s bias, not his favoritism. Playing frosh is scary. Especially when the HC is worried for his job. Heck, he might get criticized by in the media!

All coaches relegate duties down the chain. So yes, in a game with 8 total different positions grouping on a team, yes a particular position coach very well has say as to who he puts in from his group ON GAME DAY..you really think any HC is micro managing substitutions from the RBs, WRs, TE, Oline, Dline, LBs, And DBs live on game day? Umm nah bruh. That’s why if you pay attention on the sidelines guys stay within their position groups and by their position coaches and you will literally see positions coaches sending guys in and out.

for a defensive minded HC the OC has a chunk of say to when it pertains to that side of the ball and vice versa. And in Diaz/ Lashlees relationship I believe wholeheartedly he trust him to fully run his show. Proof is him feeling comfortable enough to go balls deep on the defensive side this szn.

now, what went Into likens running his room like he did we don’t know. All we can do is speculate within reason . When you do that u have to take into account ALL FACTORS. Not just you as a fan watching 2 hours on Saturday. We know we had Covid shut down the spring and hinder summer work. We also know Covid hit the WR room during the szn. I think Vs NC state we had like 5 scolly WRs available...the favoritism stance in this instance is as laughable as it was in 2019 with Lo..Lashlee didn’t recruit 6, 8, 3, or 12...but he showed favoritism towards them?...and not the kid he Handpicked (along with Lashlee) from out west??..it makes no sense.

IDC who the guys are that step up at the X and Y I just want production in 21

Exactly. Any HC who does that during a game will lose his staff and players instantly. Now y’all pin this post

HC has final say over everything. Do they micromanage during games? Depends on the HC? Does the decision on who gets PT during a game only get made during the game, or can that collaboration happen during the week leading up to the game?

Do you really think the following conversation would be so rare?:

HC: Hey, Rob, I really liked what I saw on film from Jeff. Let’s work him into the rotation more.

Position Coach: Will do, coach!

LOL. You guys apparently never been around any controlling HCs to think they all let a position coach make all the calls on who plays and how much they play.

Apparently, you’ve never watched a Baga game. You think Sabag is going to hesitate to tell some position coach who he wants on the field? LOL. Think he’s worried about “losing the team” by yelling at a position coach or telling him what to do?

Lashlee schemed around average O line play and below average WR play with little to no spring and 1st year starter at QB.. Having a guy on the outside the can win consistently like Richards did will put us in the top 20 offenses easily

Great coaches don’t mind over ruling ,calling out or just jumping in said oc or position coaches ***. Not sure where people have gotten the idea this doesn’t happen and it’s very common. I’ve heard a multitude HC’s rip people under them during the game and threaten them to “ fix it or I will”. Right down to when I played HS ball. The head coach wants to keep his job and is the leader and will be the one having to answer to the media and to his bosses.

Yes. That happens during the week. The position coach gives his feedback on how his guys are doing for sure. And it’s up to that position coach on who he thinks is getting it done in all areas. He’s gunna relay that to manny/Lashlee...but ultimately on Gameday it’s on the position coach to handle those subs. It’s not a conspiracy.

like @Ethnicsands stated, if a HC is usurping his coordinators/PCs at every given decision especially given PT and rotation on gameday you will have a problem...As for ole goat Saban, dude has about 100 Assistants..multiple guys who were HCs at the next level running position groups. Why tf would he not delegate responsibility to those coaches?

We were an average offense last year , people are defending Lashlee because they remember the year before. But to be fair Penos didn’t have king at qb, and an ol that was all a year older with a sr transfer. I’m still waiting for Lashlee to do something against a good opponent before I throw out elite or good. No need to crown somebody on average.

I don’t know where these dudes got the idea that position coaches are autonomous mini HCs who run their own team within the team with no input from the HC. The HC is the boss just like any other deal, and if he’s a strong boss he’s not going to hesitate to tell an underling what to do.

It comes down to this, do you think Lashlee/Likens pushed for a kid like Keyshawn to get majority of the snaps and that was shut down by Manny the BOTs or cooney (personally my fav among the conspiracies) ??..because that’s the argument being made by chise I think...and if that’s the case at the CFB you think a coach like Likens and Lashlee are going for that ****? Manny ain’t got the juice like that rn. Them cats would leave and get a another job rq

Bruh we all know that..but in this particular instance..it’s far fetched that’s the case when all factors that went on in 2020 are considered

I agree normally but considering all the other negative factors.. such as playing all conference game and one tough G5 opponent no offseason to really prepare and mesh those new parts and no big time playmaker on the outside average was a great step in the right direction
