Seeing as how we continue to blame our coaching staff for our mediocrity, I’d get your take on this. Yeah I know it might be stupid, but I just want to see what others think, because of a friend of mine said.

I’m laughing out loud 😂😂😂 lets get to 75 before we call it a roster. Someone might want to google Saben’s and Dabo’s Records their first seasons at Alabama and Clemson. We have 73 on the roster and 74 on ship, because Cager still counts against the number fwiw

Dabo and Saben were both 6-6
Saben won his bowl game 7-6
Dabo lost his bowl game 6-7

If we had Dabo or Nick this wouldn’t be our roster. Could we win a championship with over half of the players currently on the team plus some better players that better coaches would immediately bring in? Yes.

What championship? The coastal? Or the national championship? Bill Belichick with Saban as his defensive coordinator isn’t winning a national title with this roster. Boar Cane makes a great point. Let’s get to a full roster also. His other point is the records that Dabo and Satan had there first years.

Hopefully Manny will get his Dad to start funneling some of that hidden cash from bribes and payoffs to the kids. I think that is what he means by committing to Miami and that’s it. You don’t want to drop a bag and a kid back out. Money is tight son!

Saban took over a team that went 6-6 the prior year and went 7-6 including a loss to powerhouse Lousiana Monroe at home. He beat one ranked team that year, the perennially overrated Tennessee.

Dabo took over a team that had won 9, 10 and 10 games the previous three seasons. They had won 8 or more games the seven preceding seasons.

He went 10-4 his first season but lost to unranked NC State and Georgia Tech. His team gave up SEVENTY points to West Virginia in his bowl game loss.

Honestly, some of you make these ridiculous grandiose statements without a millisecond of research.

You are making three faulty assumptions:

1) The talent in our roster is no better than what Dabo and Saban took over

2) That Dabo and Saban have not improved as coaches since starting their current positions

3) That we play in as difficult of a conference as they Alabama and Clemson played at the time

Success breeds success, when we were winning recruits wanted to come to the U, jus like now Bama and Clemson have their pick of players. We have enough talent now and with a winning streak we will add quality and quantity.
 
Seems like our last 4 recruiting classes are ranked something like 23, 12, 8 27... hard to imagine such a talent pool would be Top 10 by a super duper coach Dabo or Saban much less a national championship.
 
They would both win 11 games with this schedule, but would lose to Clemson. If you give them the ability to recruit last years class, they probably win em all except Clemson. Sabans Achilles heel is bad kicking though

Saban had already won a title at LSU and was an NFL head coach as well. The point is there are no instant cures for anything. Coaches win consistently when they hav overwhelming talent. Period.

Neither of them, in one offseason where they didn't get to bring in their own players and establish their culture, would mop up anywhere. The proof is in their acutal records, not some random assumption.
