Is it coaching staff or players?!?

Dabo Sweeney or Nick Saban way would win a championship with this exact same Miami roster.

Saban took over a team that went 6-6 the prior year and went 7-6 including a loss to powerhouse Lousiana Monroe at home. He beat one ranked team that year, the perennially overrated Tennessee.

Dabo took over a team that had won 9, 10 and 10 games the previous three seasons. They had won 8 or more games the seven preceding seasons.

He went 10-4 his first season but lost to unranked NC State and Georgia Tech. His team gave up SEVENTY points to West Virginia in his bowl game loss.

Honestly, some of you make these ridiculous grandiose statements without a millisecond of research.
Dabo fired his DC the very next day. Our problem is we have had head coaches like Golden and Richt who wont do what needs to be done when it comes to assistants.

I couldn't agree more. That was my entire point. Xs and Os are very overrated in CFB. Even the best Xs and Os guys couldn't have us go out and be NCs with this roster. You need talent in CFB to win NCs and Dabo and Saban are the best around at landing talent.

It is the whole chicken and the egg argument. Great coaching enhances talent but it also attracts more talent.

Do you hire a great coach or a great recruiter? I saw great coaches will inhertily attract talent, even if they are not the most talented recruiter.

Agreed. I think you need to be both to really be elite though.

You have horrible coaches with elite talent that can't do schit with it. Look at USC and FSU. Then you have good Xs and Os guys with less talent that have decent seasons year after year like Whisky and WSU.

Personally, what I wanted for us is someone that can be a "good coach, decent recruiter" that can turn us into a perennial Coastal champ. Then slowly build up talent until we are able to start really using the "you can be that team that dethrones Clemson" pitch to recruits. Wishful thinking, but that is the way I see us getting back to elite.

Once again, we’re three games into a new staff. None of the doomsayers know what Manny will do if needed. Golden and Richt have zero to do with him.

If we had Dabo or Nick this wouldn’t be our roster. Could we win a championship with over half of the players currently on the team plus some better players that better coaches would immediately bring in? Yes.
Would Dabo or Nick bring there bag programs with them? Or would they have to comply with UM rules.

Did Nick win NCs at Michigan State?

It's ALL about evaluations from Jumpstreet....
GREAT evaluations from the beginning, set forth the rest....Proof is in the pudding...

Please STOP with the Manny to Saban and Dabo 1st year comparisons.

The situations and challenges faced by each of them were completely different......The Coaching skills and acumen of each of them are completely different.....so you also cannot assume that they'll have the same growth and trajectory

Other than asking for patience......There is NOTHING in that comparison that translates to a projection of what our future will be with Manny.

One thing is certain without a doubt.....Miami had more returning talent than Saban or Dabo had in their 1st year ( Look it up)

Saban and Dabo later recruited and developed the personnel they used to achieve ELITE status....For Manny its TBD

Manny is blazing his own trail facing his own challenges.....just as Saban and Dabo blazed their own separate trails facing different challenges

Saban's and Dabo's programs both achieved ELITE status......we'll have to wait and see what level Manny achieves here

Let's just ALL HOPE that he can replicate the success that Saban and Dabo achieved

Neither one of them coaches are winning a title this year. If they were coaching instead of Manny.

This team did have the talent to beat UF and UNC. This team has the talent barring injuries to go undefeated in this soft *** coastal but once they line up against Clemson and the other top 4 teams. Depth would just be the Achilles heel.

Yes. The sun can shine on a dog's *** some days but playing against the the top team in the ACCCG and the CFP. **** would explode.

We dont know what Manny will do, that's why I'm talking about what has been done up to this point to find ourselves in our current situation. Its poor coaching.

We have not been getting the recruits because we have not been winning and we have not been winning because we have not been getting the recruits.

Dabo and Saban would mop the floor with the coastal with our roster. Next, they would sign recruiting classes that would win it all.
Saban, yes. Dabo, no.

Saban is proven so no debate here. Every program that man leads turns into something immediately while he's there. MSU, LSU, & Bama. Within a year we would win the Coastal. Within 2 to 3 years we would be competing for the ACC championship with Clemson.

Deshaun Watson changed how we view Dabo and Clemson. Before Watson, Dabo had built Clemson to the point where they were a respectable program but kept "Clemsoning" in big games and would drop games they shouldn't have. Watson was a generational talent that elevated the Clemson brand thus elevating Dabo along the way. Dabo parlayed that into recruiting success which has allowed hin to sustain success but to say he would come and win immediately is outright ridiculous. Dabo is a good coach, no doubt about that, but I don't think he would equate to overnight success for the Canes. He would need a few years to build us up.
