Too much time to wait for this game so I'd like to do some rampant speculation based on small sample sizes:

I am sure both teams are going to come to play, but do we think FSU is actually good? If we are being real, the comfortable home win over Bama is one of the best wins of any team in the country to date and the offense looks explosive. But they are also just -6.5 favorites against Virginia this week (yes, on the road) and Virginia isn't bad, but they aren't good either.

Quick thoughts:

- I think Gus Malzahn and Tony White were excellent coordinator hires.
- I think Castellanos is REAL dangerous as a runner, especially in Malzahn's scheme, but I am not buying into the idea that he is an improved passer yet.
- I think their running back room looks pretty solid. That Kromah kid is a big boy.
- I think the Front 7 as good if not slightly better than what we saw from ND and UF.
- They are not very deep, especially in the secondary.

I am confident Miami is the better team.

If I had one big worry? Castellanos' scramble ability can neutralize some of our pass rush and we are still prone to giving up a big play or two in the passing game. If we keep Castellanos and the receivers in front and make them sustain drives, we should be able to beat them on that side of the ball.

Beck and the passing offense will be critical, because that is the best way to beat the 'Noles defense IMO.

FSU front 7 is no where close to level of UF or ND at all

We’ll know more after Virginia IMO

Castellanos seems to be the same guy that he was at BC. Very dangerous runner, can improvise but he’s not a good passer.
He’s a better version of Byrum Brown from USF.

Their D didn’t look that impressive against Bama, feels like it was more Bama ****ting on themselves offensively. Very far from the talent ND and UF has.

For now, they are a good team but no contenders.

I’m going to wait and form a real opinion after Virginia but I think our run game will be a factor again. Bama marched right down the field on their first drive for a Td and then went full dummy the rest of the game. Going to be another trench war type of game.

Miami's Offense is designed exactly to keep QBs like Castellanos off the field and Miami's Defense fresh.

While a dangerous runner, he eats up clock as well. Not ideal playing from behind if they can make him one dimensional.

Definitely improved over last season, and that’s beyond wins and losses. But they are not close up front to UF or ND. People can ***** and moan about our offensive performance Saturday but that UF defense is the best we will play all year until the title game.

There’s very little to go on when it comes to FSU. Alabama is obviously a quality win, but I’d argue when they are preseason #8 it’s more likely they are a middle of the pack top 25 team given the Bama/SEC perpetual slurp fest. A good friend and big time booster up in Tally said it looked like Bama came in ready to play FSU like they were 2-10 and it was game #13 and not the start of a new season. There’s obviously nothing we can take away from the other garbage they’ve played.

IMO this is a perfect week for a bye. I’ll take our roster and guys like Hetherman and Dawson with an extra week. We win and ultimately just physically beat them down up front.
