Is Duke a legit Heisman candidate?

Yes he's a legit Heisman Candidate for the last 2 seasons Duke was our offense. When he touches the ball we do well. No doubt he will have the numbers but this team has to win for him to have a real shot.

Id say the biggest problem for Duke idls his injury history and who else could win. Hes a heisman caliber player, but he has to beat out the QBs which will be extremely tough, then theres like 3-4 other RBs he has to compete with. I dont see it happening.
But i think it would take at least:
1500 rushing yards on at least 6 ypc, 15 rushing Tds, a kickoff return or 2, 300 receivinv yards and 2 receiving TDs. And possibly most importantly we have to win 10 games. He MUST show his versatility and impact on the overall record to have any chance

Duke has the talent to win it. Problem is we need to win some **** big games and have Duke play well in them.

Gurley is the best RB in the nation right now. A notch above Duke at this point IMO

Legit for sure, what doesn't help him is his team. They typically like players on better teams. If the Canes can go 9-3 or better he should be in NY

Remember Noles fans were saying Karlos Williams was better than Duke? lol

Got shut down in the OKLA State game

I think this is gonna be the year of the running back for heisman, Gurley, Abdullah, and Gordon put their hats in the ring on Saturday, tonight its Duke's turn

He gets last word tonight. Gurley, Gorden and Abdulah all had big games. If he goes off and throws in some of those ridiculous runs tonight, he has a great chance to be mentioned early. Hopefully there won't be any quick whistles.

Absolutely he is. Kid was on pace for 1500+ and had 94 yards against the #1 defense in the nation through three quarters. Now he is a year older and the supporting cast is stronger. Duke is gonna push for an AA spot, although gurley is a beast.

I guess it bears repeating:

Willis McGahee, in a season coming off of a national title, in a season playing for another, amidst a 35 game winning streak, rushed for 1,750 yards, had almost THIRTY rushing TD's and finished FOURTH.

It's not happening.

Gurley looked like a absolute monster so it will be tough for Duke to surpass him. That being said I wouldn't be even a little surprised if he got 1,800 yards and 20+ TDs. Don't let anybody fool you, Duke is ELITE.

Repeat yourself all you want, just because McGahee didn't win it with those stats doesn't mean duke cant. That's not how the Heisman works.

You didn't mention Dorsey splitting the vote that year. Both of them were invited to the ceremony. If HBK splits the heisman vote with Duke, this season will be magical and I won't care about the award.

It's not so much the numbers but the ancillary team stuff the media loves that also was in his favor, **** he put up 6 TD's against VT in the last game to lock up an undefeated regular season and yet he wasn't even the highest finishing RB.

Let me put it this way, if anyone is positive Duke will be a Heisman finalist and wants to put some money behind that assertion, I'll gladly take that action.

Gurley is way out in front at this point with Kenny Hill and Marcus Mariotta early contenders

guy to keep an eye out for that Miami will see soon: Amer Abdullah (Nebraska)
