I've been in Athens all weekend, and went to the game on Saturday, and everyone here has been talking about Gurley, and rightfully so. But, whenever I bring up Duke, they either laugh, or even pretend like they don't know who he is. So, do I have orange and green glasses on? Or, is he in the same league as Gurley? If not, what does he have to do this year to get himself into the conversation?

Duke needs to prove he can deliver in a big game....especially on national TV in the spotlight before Heisman talk. Tonight would be a huge feather in his cap if he can do so. Duke needs to put the team on his back this year or at least until Kaaya finds his mojo later in the season.

Problem for Duke is a RB needs to be on a team that wins 10-11 games minimum to win the heisman.

Play in the SEC.

What conference does Winston play in?

I didn't say you can't win unless you're in the SEC, I said that would get him in the conversation.

Got it, and good point.

He's definitely a contender. But if Georgia finishes well, Gurley has it in the bag. He destroyed Clemson in primetime the other night

I think he can be, especially with big performances in this first month. If we start 4-0 and he has big games @ Louisville and Nebraska he's definitely in the mix. Not returning kicks this year will hurt him though. He's a lock for 3-4 td returns if he does it.

Candidate? Sure. Probable finalist? Only if they find ways to get him the ball in space through the passing game and reduce his carries so he holds up IMO... which is not necessarily what's best for the team.

They are right to be arrogant. Gurley IMO is the hands down favorite for the award, but so was Geno Smith two years ago. Duke certainly could win a trip to NY for the ceremony, but if Gurley stays healthy and consistent he will win it easily.

I wouldnt expect causal fans of other teams to know duke or Coley for that matter, especially if we dont play them. I might be mistaken but duke hasnt really done much on national stage or really big games..

Tonight both have opportunity to have hi, my name is________________ moments for whole dam nation. National holiday, No high school, no college, no NFL, just one game on TV. Best believe if they show out twitter will go crazy and they can get notoriety, until then they will be overhyped on board until they take over the big games. As we all should know, big time players, make big time plays, in BIG games. Be bout that action boss

No, he isn't.

If you aren't going to have gaudy, video game-esque numbers, you have to put up really, really, good numbers on a really good team. Miami has never consistently been a really run-heavy team, so you can forget the huge stats. And they aren't going to be in the title race so you can forget trophy by association ala Mark Ingram.

If McGahee's 1,750 yards and 28 TD's on a team in the midst of a 35 game winning streak in '02 couldn't get him better than 4th in the voting, what chance realistically does Johnson have?

Dude is 100 % Heisman material...only problem is 7 or 8 qb's and running backs in front of him..Gurleys already put on a show...Jake Waters K-
State 4 TD's,...Kessler Sou Cal 4 TD's/400 yds...Abdullah Neb 232 yds in 1st half...Conner Pitt 4 TD's in a half...Hogan Stanford 4 TD's in a half...Golson ND 5 TD's in 3 quarters...Williams UNC 2 passing 2 running TD's playing a half...Boone Duke 4 TD"S in 3 quarters...and of course we have the incumbent Crabs Winston at FSU.. The impression we and the Duke make Monday night,, will go a long way toward any Heisman invitations .I think if Louisville gets more rushing yardage than the "U" it's all but over for Duke..It's very early but if you can't win the best offensive player in your own league, you're probably not going to get any national acclaim either..
