Not gonna lie, I usually just roll my eyes at this kind of sh*t but I keep seeing so many (especially Georgia fans), even Layne Kiffin's (who was once left at an airport by a former employer for how bad he's failed) dogpiling (no pun intended) this kid every day online. People like the "experts" on the Cover 3 Podcast dunking on him at any opportunity about how he sucks or how much of a douche he is. This goofy sh*t from the twins is straight out the Kardashian/influencer playbook. This "leaked" conversation plays as 100% planed and timed. No coincidence that as soon as there's positive reports with Beck (Mario announcing his return to throwing, the CBS article) this "conversation" gets out. The twins know that basketball sh*t is over. Gotta remain relevant by any means necessary! He cheated on you in your college relationship, tough sh*t sis, happens to the best of us. Unless he was physically/verbally abusive or manipulative or anything like that, then it's no reason to drag it for months and months. Don't get me started with the "men" cheering with pom poms at genius-level jabs like "no one likes him" or "no one went to his birthday party".
As far as Georgia, they have more love for a former player who was literally involved in the illegal activity that killed his teammate and a football staffer. They were more accepting of Colby Young when his charges came to light (since dropped) and other players with a seemingly record setting run of driving-related offenses.
All he's done is emerge from a QB room full of blue chips, following a 2-time national champion, throw for 3,941 and 3,485 yards respectively, 24 and 28 touchdowns, an SEC Championship and a top 10 QBR in 2024. Was he perfect, no but he deserves more blame than Bobo, who I know for a fact they've been trying to replace? More blame than a receiving corps that led the nation in drops (31!, while the 28 TDs led the SEC) with a couple leading to some of those 12 INTs? Did I miss the game where Gunner Stockton looked like the second coming of Matthew Stafford?
Lastly, there's the kid. Young men are already suffering a mental health crisis in this country. Injuries are often dark places for athletes and all this BS on top of the worst injury of his career. I had a shipmate of mine, one of the funniest guys around, best personality, wife, 3 kids, commit suicide. Just because the kid is making NIL, or drives a nice car, or had an influencer girlfriend, doesn't mean he's not suffering internally. Maybe he isn't, but there's really no one but him that could know with certainty.
I hope the kid goes nuclear this season. Being a jerk while he's at it too! I just hate that there's a narrative that's formed (probably partially because he's at Miami), that isn't 100% based in reality and it's dragging on forever. The kid hasn't done sh*t but get mental reps in practice, be praised by the coaching staff, and seemingly put forth efforts to know his teammates.
