IPF Question: New Weight Room

And it still looks behind the times. We will never compete with the Oregon’s and Texas program for money but some of our facilities leave a lot to be desired

Miami isn't going to update every **** year. Nothing wrong with the locker room. Nothing at all, it should be fully updated once every 8-10 years. .

We got a completely new lockerroom and lounge a few years ago.

Kayaa was around shortly after we got newer stuff. The lounge is still a little weak. I said in another thread more Chucky Cheese then Dave & Busters like some of the other programs have. The older locker room/lounge is where all the training rooms and recovery pools and stuff are now.

It got some renovations a few weeks back, not sure of a complete overhaul but they added some things. Miami needs to overhaul the lockerroom and player lounge because it’s very dated compared to other programs. Even ga tech has a better ocker room than Miami and our immediate rivals FSU and uf will be getting new football operation facilities so we definitely need to keep up

If by "better" you mean "newer", then yeah I guess they do. But wtf? Somebody will always have a newer locker room because somebody's always building. Our sht isn't very old, even in today's world.

Miami is an investment. Once we start winning again the bigwigs will want to invest in our stock. Just wait on it.

Get back to winning ways on a consistent basis and we potentially could compete on financial fronts to an extent with the top programs. But definitely without a doubt behind the times even with "recent" upgrades.

If we had a new weight room we would have seen photos of it. I think the existing weight room opens into the IPF.

They were supposed to renovate the weight room and place new equipment if I remember correctly

social media is changing everything, even this.

While facilities absolutely should be upgraded from time to time, what is needed most is players with the heart of a champion & a burning desire to be the best (like Bennie Blades & the old school Canes discussed in that video about practice). Facilities are a nice touch and important for recruiting (among other things). However, recruiting players with talent, speed, a fierce work ethic and determination to be the best is ultimately the key determinant of success.

The only hope for a new locker room was with the construction of the IPF, but the Schwartz Center is less than 10 years old so it might a while until they touch it. It's night/day from circa 2010. Since then we've added lights, field turf, locker room, players lounge, IPF, dining facility, medical building, meeting rooms, coaches offices. Stadium is also newly renovated. There's not much else they can do with the allotted space. Just need to wait until 2024 when all the dorms are finished.

Weight room now connects to IPF.
Above the weight room are the new coaches offices. They can watch or see what is happening. Hearing and seeing on social media a lot of the players are working hard this off season. The excitement and buzz is real with the returning guys!

(Terrible blue circle is the weight room.)

Kids want to use the best facilities, that aids in the recruiting pitch, you don’t want kids going to bama and then come to Miami and feel like it’s a second rate program after viewing its facilities do you? Keep pushing the envelope
