The incentive to be in the UM Frost Band of the Hour is paltry. We never had a good band and never will. It’s volunteer only and people don’t give a ****. We also aren’t a traditional college environment. a lot of our fans aren’t alums so the campus traditions don’t really transfer. We shiuld treat it like a pro crowd Bc the team is treated like a pro team. It’s Miami not a college town. We have a ton of transplants and people w no connection to the school. Far more people are connected to the city. Make the environment more Miami. The heat do it w pepas. Go all in on the culture. We’ll never be the white washed college environment you see on tv. That isn’t us. You fit the environment to your crowd not try to fit the crowd to your vision. we arent the polo shirt wearing school. make It a party. That’s how you get more people to attend. They want to habe fun. We already rank some of the worst locally for college basketball during the tournament. It just isn’t a big college sport market. The canes took hold bc they won and did it miami style.
yup thats what ads were when you entered the dorms when I was there. also, tbh, the average UM kid isnt looking to be apart of band of the hour. lets be real now. you guys have to understand the student that attends UM lol. they're getting tables at LIV lol. they're not really in need of a book stipendThe incentive to be in the UM Frost Band of the Hour is paltry.
My kid did it about 10 years ago and got "paid" a $500 credit against her book fee.

y'all saw there were like 30 kids at the game today right? now imagine that interest for the ******* band? come on now. if you want an SEC Team, go root for one but this wont be miami lol. just embrace what makes miami miami and it isnt a marching band. only way it'll work is scholarships for band but well never do that and it isnt worth itThe BOTH is an afterthought for everyone. They don't go to all road games, it takes up a ton of time and honestly, there's no cool factor.
The ONLY way that gets fixed is if someone steps up and pours money into the program. Start giving big scholarships for marching band like some HBCUs do, and also hire a top end director that will bring a modern style. Even then, odds are our "fans" still won't care.
People don't realize how close the BOTH came to being disbanded, due to lack of support, before some donors stepped up. The athletic department doesn't give a crap because the typical Miami fan doesn't give a crap.y'all saw there were like 30 kids at the game today right? now imagine that interest for the ******* band? come on now. if you want an SEC Team, go root for one but this wont be miami lol. just embrace what makes miami miami and it isnt a marching band. only way it'll work is scholarships for band but well never do that and it isnt worth it
These girls have been carrying the BOTH like Atlas for decades.
The school is already putting money into football why not the band ? I counted the band and we had roughly 80 people playing musical instruments .I know most people don’t give a **** about the band but it’s a slap in the face when the away teams bring a 300 person band and blow them out of the water .
The problem is they only play in the key of A gap.How bad is it with the band? Are their trombones rusty?
Can’t hear the BOTH. Doesn’t help that I’m pretty much half deaf during the game from the regular speakers though.I was at the game and felt like I couldn’t hear the band that well 15 rows up.
