Interim NIL approved

This will be a gift and a curse IMO. The three conferences that stands to benefit the most from this should be the ACC,PAC 12 (15?) and Big10 (12?15? I don't even know anymore) because of the media markets. This will also give ND a little bit of pause in joining a conference.

But, at the same time, it will give the SEC schools coverage to "launder" their bag money.

The micro economic potential of this could be staggering.

*Nike schools are gonna be stretched thin because there are so many, but they will have the most representation.
*Jordan Brand and Adidas about to get real busy
*Not only are we in a top 20 market, but we were already known for swag, and we are Adidas' flagship program.
The whole media market thing (maybe I'm wrong) is over because of social media. Bama kids can get numerous followers and all types of **** cause social media has shrunk the world. Or am I wrong? Like u can be big anywhere cause of social media

I see NIL as just a way to legalize bag money and allow all schools to do it. Sound right to you fellas? I mean, we been *****ing about the SEC throwing bags out for years and now the good people of Miami can throw out bags for many things such as appearances, autograph signings, etc.
I see it as nothing more than legalizing the bags. I am sure it is other things also, but...am I way off here?
Pretty much IMO. I thought this would benefit the bag schools because now they can do it openly but I I don’t know - I think we might do really well. Our wealthy alums, who don’t have an interest in or the mindset for the bag game, and supporters from our City, may very well jump into legal business arrangements. And as there is so much business in the area, it may level and even tilt things our way. We’ll have to see. This is a great start though.

Disaster.

Love to see what these contracts look like. Wonder if they can include conditions, like being the starter for X amount of games, or include performance based bonuses...If so, that should be fun for a head coach to deal with.

"You promised me a starting position if I signed with you...now you're costing me thousands! I'm going to sue your ***."

"Your gameplay better include at least 10 throws a game to me, otherwise I'm hitting the ******* portal."

"Hey bro, this game isn't important. Fake an injury so I can get 100 yards today and hit my performance bonus; I'll hook you up."

Schools will probably disallow making deals based on athletic performance, like above. No incentives for the schools to allow that because it certainly makes it more messy.

In a way, yes...you are correct. There is less emphasis on it because you can bridge the gap with social media. But social media is just another avenue to get messaging out. It's more of the promotional arm of a brand because stuff like Twitter and IG are free. But with socials, you are only promoting to the school's fanbase and a few others. You're going to need a much bigger reach to get those numbers from 5k followers to say, 25k.

A player's work on the field is the product, their merch would be a by product. Socials promote both. But a TV market puts the product in front of 250k or more people on Saturdays. I wonder what would be the rules on players posting highlights of their games from the networks tho.

Edit: And then again, there is a 50% chance I'm wrong too! Btw, Im proud of your 4 years sober from your jacked up keyboarding!

fair enough it does make sense

A lot of these kids are going to learn that being successful selling merch isn't as easy as just putting your name or picture on a shirt. At first they might get some sales, but that market will get saturated fast and only the best of the best will have sales that they think will receive

Major Miami boosters need to start contacting the elite recruits and pay them whatever they wamt to ‘endorse’ their products.

you do this, its National Championship Number 6 until all the other schools start catching on.

Miami boosters pay to have their names on buildings...not student athletes in said buildings. 🤣😂
