Interesting tidbit on recruiting/evaluation

I’d think back channels would provide a way for Mario to communicate which recruits he is prioritizing.

The rules, I believe, maybe wrong, are a deal cannot specify which school the recruit will sign with or play for. That’s not the same as Mario telling Ruiz, or whomever, he’s focused hard on Mark Fletcher and a list of others.

A lot of grey area….
There is not supposed to be any coordination between the school and anyone as to how NIL is spent. That said, everyone does it anyway and I believe a few states were looking at passing laws to specifically make it legal which would supersede any NCAA laws.

You may be right.

Went with him to the one on Biscayne Blvd. Other coaches loved it as well. Think it's closed.
Supposedly someone bought the rights last year and is considering a re launch. I would see Butch at the Koo Koo Roo on sunset between us1 and red once a month. I remember being shocked how giant he was (I was 12).

I remember the ‘00 Canesfest. Got a hat that is signed by the whole team. I was 10 at the time and he seemed giant to me.

My dad said “**** Butch is a big SOB.” My Uncle looked at me and said he’ll have this team play for a National title this year. And motherfvcker they should’ve.

It was in a Strip Mall off of Ponce/US1....Can't remember. @TheOriginalCane ....you know the one.

I know EXACTLY where it was. It was on Sunset right around SW 58th Court. When I was in law school, I parked on the street and went in to that Koo Koo Roo with friends, then I ended up getting pulled over and arrested by the South Miami cops because my driver's license had expired (yes, they were typing in license plates and then matching them to driver's licenses).

So...yeah...I spent about an hour standing out in front of that place before I was arrested, I'll never forget that corner...

@TheOriginalCane ....wasn't the Mexican place off of Ponce called Talavera Cocina?? in the 90s...

Where on Ponce? Up higher on Ponce (by the Fire Department) you had Texas Taco Factory and Taco Rico. Trying to remember Talavera Cocina.

EDIT: Oh, wait, you're talking about downtown Gables, right? Yeah, that's the name, Talavera Cocina. Sorry!

I miss Chicken Kitchen - they were basically the Chipotle model before Chipotle existed. I still think they would kill it up here in DC.

Chicken Kitchen has had very bad corporate management. They still have locations in Dade-Broward, but I think they closed all the Central Florida locations.

I try to hit a CK every once in a while when I'm down for games. LOVE the Chop Chop.

Multi sport guys who are talented are always guys to evaluate extra. They have split their time so much that you try to envision a year round commitment to one sport. Vandy kills it in baseball with these types. Arms are fresh because they aren’t playing in crappy Pg tourneys all year.
Specializing in a sport was nothing more than a con to dupe parents into paying for special coaches. It's mostly a scam.
This. Everyone thinks their kid is going to college on a scholarship so they push them into these sports when they're 8 or whatever, turns out most kids are just average (of course) and no amount of specialization can save you from being average. Personally, I don't like quarterback recruits that don't play other sports.
In Strength & Conditioning, I know Eric Cressey (S&C Coach for the Yankees / highly respected private coach with multiple training facilities) has cited research that - especially in baseball - specialization has been detrimental to kids. We have 14 year olds getting Tommy John surgery because they are completely blowing out their throwing arm by high school.

Multi-sport athletes with proficiency in a multitude of movement patterns are more sought after because they adapt more quickly and are more resilient to injury.
