Here's one interesting hint that we might be making a switch at quarterback. Might be something, might be nothing, but interesting regardless.

Apparently, Tyler Gauthier is going to start calling protections for the offense going forward. Officially, we're doing it to get better at blitz pickups, since that was obviously an issue on Sunday.

But.... if you want to have a freshman start for you at QB, taking that responsibility off the QB's shoulders is one big thing you can do to bring him along more quickly. Previously, our veteran Malik Rosier had been making those calls. That's one of those things you can rely on a veteran QB to do, but not usually a rookie.

So it's interesting because if we were going to make a change, this is one thing that would have been a precursor, and now it's happening.

Something to chew on.

Being that the blitz pick up was nonexistent on Sunday, it might just be something Rosier's plate. I'm hoping for a change at QB Though!

Now this is a good sign. Weening the team off Rosier the next few weeks would be a **** good move.

We did this last year (our pass pro was solid last year). I saw Gauthier's presser just now and he said "we made a change in the cadence so I can keep my head up. Well, we're going to do it for a full game now." So yea this might be a story because it seems like we're counting on the line to make protection calls instead of the QBs speeding up the process for the young QBs to get on the field. Rosier was given protection responsibilities and up the A gap went LSU on blitzes. This is what happens when you give a guy who didn't even watch film for 2 years here any kind of responsibility.

Richt isn’t going to make a sudden change. He’ll put the other guys in the second half and hope they give him a reason to make the change

Rosier is going to start at least the next two games, but the other guys are going to get playing time and Perry will get 1st team reps. I expect it to be like practice today and slowly become less 1st team reps for Rosier and more for Perry. By the first ACC game we will have a new starting QB.

Now if it doesn't turn out like that and Rosier is still the starter, fly the banner and call it a season, mediocrity is what we will see. We will be scratching and crawling in a battle with one of the worst FSU teams in history

At the end of spring practice, CMR said he would give the line calls to Gauthier if he was going with a young QB.

If he’s giving the line calls to Gauthier, a QB change will follow.

Wasn't aware that he said that.... but if Richt said that then it's even more telling. It makes sense.

Man, i want this all to be true, but I won't believe it until I see it.

Gotta say, i blame our OL coach for not being able to teach these guys the fundamentals of the game. Even if you never saw certain blitzes on film, the rule is to block the interior guy first, as it'll take a longer for the Edge guy to get there, compared to a defender up the gut...

We need to make some changes, and if I had to predict anything, the Left side of the line looked the worst.

We aren't benching St Louis, though he's guilty of a few errors... Who else is on the left side? None other than the guy i have no faith in, # 77.

I wouldnt mind Gaynor taking over at Center, with Guathier at LG.

He doesn't make any calls. He doesn't do anything. He is supposed to make calls and audibles and do everything else that a 5th year senior would normally know how to do, but he doesn't.
langham pointed at the blitz coming on the pick 6 play and rosier still threw it into triple coverage. even if it hadn't been tipped, there were 3 guys between thomas and the ball.
