Interesting Takes on the Final 2023 Recruiting Rankings

You are right and it was a thread on 2023, but the other poster and I went on a slight offramp about mobility between the recruiting tiers. I think this is why so many of these southern schools are worried, and trying to nip this in the bud by preventing Miami from joining the SEC, for example. (Listen to Manny Navarro's podcast yesterday where the Gator beat writer admitted that Florida would not want UM in the SEC). Good (or great) Miami and USC teams are a problem for the current southern power structure in college football.
Winning and high draft picks is our way towards top classes. Everything else will always be secondary. Kids see 3 and 4 players being drafted in the 1st round at a school it peaks interest.

The belief that this season requires us to win is flawed. It also assumed we don't have more kids already on board. Will it make a slight difference, yes obviously. But if you think Mario hasn't expressed to everyone what he came into and how badly these kids are needed to get us where we need to be & that being the most important selling point shouldn't be understated. He's letting kids know we are not where we need to be right now. A good season is simply icing on the cake for most of these kids. I know of two kids off the top of my head who want to see that who are elite. But ALOT of the bigger names you guys are talking about simply are going to wait to announce because they make bread off of visits, potential commitments & all star game announcements. That's their moments and that's when most of the big names left will announce. Myself I'm like french. No worries.

This may have been posted earlier, but I've never heard Wiltfong so effervescent about Miami. Says at the end "maybe it's Miami that sits a top the 247 recruiting rankings at the end." Calls us major player for Damon Wilson.

He also is high on UF's FNL event, but we are the last school discussed and for good reason. Fast forward to that. Ha!

Best take away is that we aren't even talking NSD yet. Could easily have a strong finish with some huge names, especially with a great season and a bowl win (or two).

The whole country, love us or hate us, wants us back. Just look at 2017. We win with Mario (which we will, I won't be taking a loss) and look the **** out

I remember the stat shared by Gaby on OV's and Mario. He closes over 60% of in-season OV's. Was like 33% on summer OV's. He's hitting higher than that with his first Miami summer OV's, as we've gone 12/30, which is 40%. If a kid takes his last visit to us in December, it's a **** lock on ESD.

6-8 is my ceiling off a good season. Still kinda early but that’s how I see it.
Ceiling? As in can't be a better class than that? If we land 2 more 5 stars it'd be hard for us to not get to at least near 300 points total which would definitely be top 5. I can def see 2 more 5 stars

Did you just attempt to get clarification on what ceiling means? I'm assuming you also don't understand 300 this year is not the same as every other year.

is this year different because there is no 25 commit cap only for this year?

I think we fall somewhere between 5-7. I reserve the right to change this opinion if with a 12-1, 11-2 type season.
That gets us where we need to be. I never expected the turn around to be a 1-2 year project. If Mario recruits at this current level which is top 10 while fielding a competent staff. We will compete for conference titles and NY Bowls. That then is the jump off point towards the next step which is a chip. I see a 4-5 year process. Unless of course he just exceeds expectations in the 23 and 24 cycles which many are hinting at.
on 247, miami is about 2 points from the 6th spot and 4 points from the 5th spot. very close to the top already
It’s tight but keep in mind that the higher we go the harder points are to come by. A giant commit like Samson only nets us an additional 10-11 points at this point. Ultimately if we need to get to 300 if we want a shot at the top 5.

Yes because I don't see how that can be a remotely reasonable ceiling, and if you think about it, ceiling could mean the opposite. As in 9 being a higher number than 6-8 which would mean the worst our recruiting class would be is 8.

I'm checking to see if Cribby is making that wording mistake because a definitely possible scenario of Okunlola + one of Cormani, Hykeem, Mpemba, or another 5 star would most likely make us top 5. If not top 5, we would certainly not be lower than 8, so 8 should be our floor.

If Mario has this team looking more the part, disciplined, playing hard and winning games, he'll reel in a Top 5 class, or better. Canes need to go at least 10-2 this season and need to reach the ACC title game. Can't waste the talent of TVD. Can't drop winnable game against mid-level ACC teams like Virginia, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, etc. If Mario has Miami passing the eye test year one, this class will close strong. At this rate, definitely a Top 10 class, as is.
