Reason I ask there has been some observation about critical penalties from last year's veteran OL (true). Of course Dawson would still manage to call an interior run on 1/15, 1/20, 2/15, 2/20, etc...

With so much more WR firepower available (allegedly) this year, even with a younger OL, does Dawson let it air out a touch more on those down/distance situations or still more Fletcher to the A-gap regardless?

Yes. Far more athletic ability in the WR room. We'll be running far more screens and RPOS because Mensah has extensive knowledge in a RPO offense

My original comment was about my initial expectation based upon what Congdon weighed and was ranked at the time he committed…you know 60 lbs ago? He also took a massive leap in the rankings from the time he committed (same time of my original expectation) to the time they were finalized, which also aligns with my original comments. Clearly you’re too dumb to comprehend that.

Your first sentence began with “While not factually untrue.” As in, what I wrote was correct. Everything you wrote (which I didn’t finish because I recognized it as rage bait and straw man arguments) is drivel in an attempt to pull the discussion in another direction so you can be right. Who would I rather have, Fitzgerald or Lowe? Nice try.

Furthermore, camp isn’t done yet and positions aren’t set.

My comments were actually praise. I don’t understand why you took it like you did. Somehow you interpreted them as a slam. Are you his agent? His girlfriend? His mom? Maybe Ben ends up being the #1 overall draft pick in three years and turns out to be better than Cantwell. Maybe he doesn’t. I’m not rooting for one over the other. I’m rooting for both. Just like I rooted for Cici and Samson…in no particular order.

Alot of that going on around here....but the mods only seem concerned with OUR response and not the obvious initial attempt to cause an issue.

I'm not going to get mad at the mods. I'm fairly certain they get paid the same as you and I do to moderate the site. I've also dealt with enough knuckleheads in real life and online that I don't really need a third party to adjudicate things. Believe it or not, I monitor a couple company social media pages as part of a role I have at work. Because it's for a company, I can't say "go F yourself you dunce" like I want to. Instead, I delete the comment, reply kindly in a way to educate not correct or belittle, ignore and/or block the person who made the comment. It's actually taught me a lot about how not responding to a really dumb comment is more powerful than responding at all. We all have a sense of anonymity on this site, which can make some people behave differently than they would in real life, myself included at times. Rather than calling in the troops to help me, I've learned to recognize when I'm being fed rage bait, lies, hyperbole, straw man arguments, gaslighting and other deceptive practices. I simply call them out and 9/10 times it works....just like it did in this case.

I'm sure in real life, that dude is just another person working a job trying to get by. Maybe he has a wife and kids. Maybe he lives in mom's basement. Maybe he owns some home on the intracoastal and is generationally wealthy, although I doubt that just based on statistics alone. I believe he's a Canes fan and simply didn't understand what I was saying - Congdon has far exceeded my expectations - or he had some other agenda to push as if Ben is his little brother. Maybe he was having a bad day? Maybe he was just feeling sassy or he thinks I'm an ******* and today was the day he decided to throw a rock at me. I have no idea. Most of my posts are a (poor) attempt at humor. It's better to laugh than cry. Life is short.
 
I could see Cantwell and Congdon both starting at the guard spots before the season ends. Those 2 run blocking inside will be absolutely nuts. Plus I think I would rather have 2 proven upperclassmen like Pancake and McCoy at the tackle spots. Inexperience at Tackle will get you beat in a big game, especially Left Tackle.

How is doing that early in season against stanford and famu wake gonna help us against playoff level teams? And we have samson/Mccoy at tackle and Rodriguez at center, the pillars are fortified with years of training.. They better cook :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

Not saying it’s right or wrong. Just think there’s a ton of talent, needs cohesion and confidence. Cohesion takes time, confidence takes success and often times OL gain confidence running the dang ball

Ok, seriously, if that means scoring quickly and early (again, #EstablishPoints) I don't really have an issue with this. I just don't want to get into 10-7 slogs into the middle of the third quarter. I get why they would go this route. My view is that we have a full month to truly solidify their core Oline unit going into Death Valley on October 3

If that's really what we do, it makes no sense to me. We got into rock fights last year and won games on the margins. Why in the world would you want to do that with a more fragile OL? Why in the world would you TRY to "hold on" to leads (again)?

I think you're posting this so that I'm unable to go to sleep in peace. Good job!

Im a big believer in what Michael Irvin says -- 'Hope dictates effort." And when teams get down big, and then you score more on them -- they actually quit or capitulate. My view is like yours: just keep running the same offense you did to get up to begin with

There is a time and place for ball-control and the 4-minute offense. But the best way to develop a unit/team is to actually run your offense full throttle. But I do understand bringing along this Oline early on...

Ehh, we score points then say hey gusym lets not score here but work on cohesion and confidence.. Im getting ND/FSU flashback under another name/rebrand.. Just keep scoring and everything works itself out, these shut down original gameplan to work on another got us in trouble last year.. I also understand it was a one off convo and its probably not translating well but I have real ptsd from the beginning of season and could see trouble brewing on horizon.. Never left a fsu W soo mad lol

This is either them overthinking or we should be more worried about the oline in pass pro

Well I mean we obviously would begin running the ball/clock MORE after up 3 scores (assuming means 21 pts) basically in any situation. So idk if it just means he thinks we wont be trying to win by 50, or what.... I mean once the backups get in the game you know you're mostly running anyways. So idk why you really need to entirely change up just cause you're up 21. it also depends at what point in the game. If you're up 21 in the first half, it'd be dumb to go into a shell just running and milking the clock in the 3rd quarter. But if it's the 4th quarter.... well more understandable.

At the end of the day Stanford is a P4 team, EXPECTING to win all p4 games by >21 is a bit unrealistic.

Think Rodriguez is poised to have a great year (or maybe I’m just Bob Rossing myself)

He filled in for Matt Lee against Rutgers and was very good and then had a very good game against UiF before he was injured

It’s been a while since we have seen him but was going back a ways and he had some good games
 
Trumpycane thinks Samson is the opposite of a typical 5* college football player these days

Kid could have easily transferred anytime in the last 3 years, especially his first two but the kid grinded, trusted Mario and Mirabal and now has the opportunity to showcase his talents at a high level instead of transferring to some **** hole like FSU
