Interesting stat on Yost as an OC candidate

Left with trash on offense at TTU? That’s very surprising to hear.

What were TTU’s offensive rankings in 2018 in major categories compared to 2019? That would be interesting to know.

2018: 16th in PPG at 37.3; 34th in Yards per attempt passing (7.9); 114th in yards per attempt rushing(3.64); 12th in total yards per game (485.2); 12th in 3rd down % (47.25%); 28th in red zone TD% (68.97%)

2019: 57th in scoring (30.5); 71st in yards per pass attempt (7.34); 66th in yards per rushing attempt (4.44); 12th in yards per game (474.3); 84th on 3rd down % (38.2%); 91st in red zone TD % (54.9%)

TTU declined everywhere except yards per rush from Kliff. The yards per game and points per game variance is concerning and shows where the struggle was - the red zone ranking 91st in scoring TDs in the redzone.

For the **** of it - Utah State in 2018: 2nd in scoring (47.5); 23rd in yards per pass attempt (8.20); 15th in yards per rush attempt (5.5); 11th in yards per game (497.4); 14th in 3rd down % (46.96%); 44th in red zone TD % (65.57%)

I believe there was 1 week left in the season in 2019 when i ran these numbers. Could be off a little.

F*ck it. Go and get Leach next year. He still lives in the Keys in the offseason.

Also ranked in the 80s on 3rd down and in the 90s in scoring TDs in the red zone.

Yards per pass attempt weren't good. Yards per rush attempt weren't good. Put up lots of yards but the points didn't correlate the yards they put up.

Would be an upgrade but no thanks. Seems gimmicky to me.

That was at Ttech were he had s lot of issues with injuries and 1st year transition. Look at his stats from UTAH St while he was there.

LOCAL WEST TEXAS POLL

What grade would you give David Yost for the 2019 season?

A) 1%
B) 12%
C) 35%
D) or F) 52%

To be fair he wasn't left with much in the qb room but Tech fans aren't sold at all with him. 16 WR Screens vs Iowa St. was a huge issue.

Sorry but f*ck all these advantage stat metrics BS.

Give me production in the generic stat category.

What is his:
Yards per game?
Yards per play?
3rd conversation %?
Pass yards per game?
Run yards per game?
Points per game?
Red-zone TD %?
Offense efficiency?

I'm tired of the excuse making. I'm tired of the selective stats. That is what happen with Enos.. people picked certain stats to boost a hire that was question at best. I'm tired of the "if coach X wants him then I want him" BS.

You're probably right.

We likely agree at the end result - he's not coming here - but I see it as...why would this incredibly well accomplished coach and coordinator leave his bubble to come here? He seems dramatically overqualified to come to this ****.

Its not like he's a hive coach, where he's never left this one man like he's Bud Foster. He's been around. But he's exceptionally qualified to coach...why would this man come to Miami unless Miami is dropping a million on him and you just can't turn down that kind of money.

The offense will without question turn around in one year with this guy. I have no doubt. Sack rate will drop. We'll likely have a near historic season passing the football regardless of what bum quarterback we got slinging it. But...why in the fvck would he come to this hellhole if not for some legit coin.
The whole “throw a million at him” rhetoric doesn’t work with some guys. I don’t know what he’s making now, but it’s likely at least $600k. $600k in Lubbock lets you live like a redneck Jimmy Don Corleone.

On top of that, making $600k with raises for the next 5 or 6 years and the ability to upgrade to a better job that might come where the HC isn’t a dead duck is better than $1M for 1 year.

Everything from 2018 to 2019 in terms of offense is pretty comparable except mainly third down conversion percentage (46.43% in '18 to 36.81% in '19).

You're not wrong. I have no idea what Miami would offer him. I know we think poorly of our school after two decades of despicable football...but the allure of coaching/coordinating these athletes down here is a weird draw that maybe you or I do not fully understand and could be a draw for some guys. Maybe, idk.

Then again, maybe this dude just wants to hang out on the beach for a year, man.

Legend...do not tell me you aren't already in the lab, working on some fresh material like you were working on a new stand up special if we hire this guy and things go south...

Anything pertaining to Jeff Daniels is fair game and I'm sure you've got some fresh material already.
