WARNING: IF YOU DONT LIKE EXTREME HYPOTHETICALS DONT BOTHER READING
Let me preface this by saying I know that this is super unlikely to happen and I doubt there would be mutual interest from both sides(maybe not even from one) but would you take Khalil Tate as our starting QB? He'd probably have to sit out next year but I'm no expert on eligibility rules, I just know usually you have to sit out one year if you're not a grad transfer. I know we have two quarterbacks who look to be potentially elite but if Rosier wins the job next year and neither Perry or Williams can beat him out, we definitely are not in as great of a position as we think we are in at QB, unless they're just really late bloomers developmentally.
If Tate indeed had to sit out a year, It would give him an opportunity to be groomed and coached up by Richt as well as allow him to learn the offense. He is pretty raw as a passer but he did complete 62% of his passes this year so there's definitely promise there. Anyone who has seen him play knows he's the best running QB in college football today and arguably ever. His rushing stats in 11 games this year: 153 att, 1411 yds, 9.2 avg, 12td just to give you an idea of his prowess if you've never seen him play.
Could you imagine having a world class playmaker at QB to go along with what our skill talent and O-line would look like in 2019??? Even if you think Richt is a moron when it comes to calling plays and puts a cap on our offensive potential, having a playmaker like that surrounded by other top level playmakers would definitely give us a top 10 offense in the country and no one would be able to keep pace with a Khalil Tate led offense and a stout 2019 defense that should have a ton of depth and be moderately better than our defense this year.
I hope Perry or Williams proves this thread ridiculous and completely unecessary but if Khalil Tate came knocking and you were Richt and were serious about winning, why wouldn't you answer? If Richt could put Perry and Williams' feelings of betrayal aside, it would be the wise business decision and give our offense too much firepower for even the likes of Bama to handle imo
