Interesting ranking of coordinators

I subscribe to a newsletter from two Ohio State insiders. Mainly because they have a good holistic understanding of college football.

The article asked:

Does Ohio State have the best coordinator pairing in college football? It’s a question we attempted to tackle last week when we drafted the best coordinator pairings in the Power Four. Here’s how that draft played out:

  1. Indiana: OC Mike Shanahan; DC Bryant Haines (Bill)
  2. Ohio State: OC Arthur Smith; DC Matt Patricia (Doug)
  3. Miami: OC Shannon Dawson; DC Corey Hetherman (Bill)
  4. LSU: OC Charlie Weis Jr.; DC Blake Baker (Doug)
  5. Michigan: OC Jason Beck; DC Jay Hill (Bill)
  6. Penn State: OC Taylor Mouser; DC D’Anton Lynn (Doug)
  7. Florida: OC Buster Faulkner; DC Brad White (Bill)
  8. Notre Dame: OC Mike Denbrock; DC Chris Ash (Doug)
  9. Georgia: OC Mike Bobo; DC Glenn Schumann (Bill)
  10. USC: OC Lincoln Riley; DC Gary Patterson (Doug)



Around 15 minutes they talk about Miami. Everyone loves Heatherman and begrudgingly give Dawson plaudits for winning with two very different types of quarterbacks.
 
Blake and Ruffino have a great podcast I listen to. They listed their top 5 coordinators. One of the guys had Dawson in his top 5 OCs and the other guy said he was just outside his top 5.

Both had Heatherman I believe in the top 3. For sure both had him in their top 5’s.

No excuses this year. The roster is loaded beyond belief. We have coordinator continuity with 2 of the best in the sport. This is the no ******* around tour. Any more than 1 loss is completely unacceptable and a catastrophic failure.

The one question mark is OL which is what our coaches were born to teach

Top 5-10 players at almost every position. Tons of experience

Maybe the best QB in the country

I don’t understand the love for Blake Baker. We all saw what he did here and I know much has been made that he was hamstrung by Diaz yada yada but when LSU played anybody with a offensive pulse they were dead in the water, Gave 49 points to Marcel Reed, 31 points to Vandy.
