Interesting from Barry

I have a feeling many players don't fear the HC. And this kind of players requires someone like Saban or even Butch in the old days to keep them in check. Reminds me of the days when all the players wanted Coker to be a head coach. Nice man but not the kind who players took seriously.

I feel a little sorry for Manny. I know he cares about the program but he f#cked up his chances with the extraordinarily ****ty staff he hand picked. He either needed to season this group of assistants at Temple where he could evaluate them and make changes or pick guys with P5 track records of success. Maybe in year 1 he butts heads with an experienced coach over something and finishes with 9 wins and ACC coastal. Great. He has some credibility to get a different guy, even a junior coach.

Pro style over spread. No name DC and ST. He brought in guys he "trusts" instead of guys who are excellent at doing their jobs. Now he is f#cked. He cant jettison the staff and start over because top assistants think he will be fired (also he doesn't have much credibility to begin with).

This will make your heads explode- the only real chance he has to overhaul his staff with better people is for James to give him an contract extension as a vote of confidence. If James survives the year, I guarantee Diaz gets an extension as James will be fired if Diaz doesn't succeed.
 
I like Manny and I think he’s doing the best he can and sincerely wants this program to succeed and be a successful head coach himself. Unfortunately, that is not enough.
I would LOVE to QB the hurricanes to their 6(7)th National title, but that’s not going to happen either.

If what Barry says is true in this article, why was this not addressed in the offseason?

1.) How do you let Donaldson blowup to 400lbs?
2.) How do you not address the kicking situation and at very least have competition at that spot? What if Baxa broke a leg? It’s not like we are full on scholarships.
3,) How do you think that Patchen is going to be your starting DE, and only get Rousseau a few snaps a game until middle of the season? He might have won you some games. You don’t like strip sacks? He might be the best player we have had here in 10 years. But let’s keep Patchen in there because he can jump offsides and maybe set the edge.
4,) How can you have no backup for Pink? Is he Superman that will never get hurt?
5.) How do you not make JT4 an integral part of your game planning? Kid has completely checked out now.
6.) How do you not know who your starting QB is 8 games into the season?
7.) If there are cancers on your team, that are not buying in, WHY THE F HAVE YOU NOT MADE AN EXAMPLE OF THEM AND TOLD THEM TO GIT THE BRICKS?

ALL THE QUESTION PRESENTED SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED IN THE OFF SEASON, NOT NOW!! Some of them still haven’t been addressed. That is why Manny will not be a successful head coach, he is not proactive.

Games are won and lost in the offseason!
If you can’t identify and correct or mitigate your issues before the season starts your ****ed.
I was expecting growing pains with Manny as a first year HC, but this much more. He was woefully unprepared to start the season.

His preparation has been garbage, his staff is garbage and his recruiting is garbage, no wonder most of the players play like garbage! How many scholarship linebacker do we have for to tomorrow? Hopefully, we have someone other than Ragu( a freshman walk on!!!!) to step in, god forbid if Shaq or McClaud get hurt. Manny has been in charge of this defense since 2016, yet we have NO BACKUP LINEBACKERS?

as far as the staff Diaz "handpicked" , no way there was a stampede of available and elite OCs and DCs storming into Coral Gables wanting to work for a rookie HC at a declining program. Enos and Baker could have been all that Diaz could get. My problem with Diaz is the program management decisions that he has made have been consistently poor or not the best which says to me he does not have championship HC skills and he also does not have the intangibles.

Holy shît. The first part of this post had my finger on the upvote finger but then you started talking extension????

James’ fate is tied to Manny but I think James could be in lame duck status so James isn’t doing anything at this point, with Manny doing so badly, without the BOT and if this continues, James goes and a new AD will have Manny for a year if he makes it that long.

I expressed concerns about Manny’s ability to hire a staff but he really slit his own throat here.

WRONG!!
1.5 million a year, you can get almost whatever OC you want. The problem is Manny couldn’t identify the right hire, he was too busy looking at Enos’s hat to notice the guy is not worth 1.5 mill. He ****ed up on the Enos hire and it will ultimately cost him his job.

Oh I am not advocating for an extension. Diaz is set for an inevitable downward spiral. Might as well pull the plug now. Diaz didn't need to win 10 games but he absolutely cannot go 4-8 and miss a bowl. At that point the fans and media will demand he change staff (or else no more ticket purchases) but he can't even if he wanted to. No one better will come. He's stuck with these guys.

James fate is tied to Manny. He gets fired if Diaz fails. They are buddies off the field. Its just my assumption that James knows Diaz has no chance of attracting staff talent unless coaches have some level of comfort he will be there at least 4 years. So to help Diaz survive, he gets an extension. James cant pull the plug as its tantamount to career suicide. It's absolutely not what I want but I think it is likely to happen.

that’s stupid.. players make mistakes all the time when live bullets are flying. That’s why games don’t all end in ties. But the coaches are absolutely taking NO BLAME!! That’s what is ***ked up.. the coaches aren’t playing to the strength of the guys that grow down here.. we trying to play power football and dink and donk. While other teams are putting up numbers with less.. that’s coaching! At least other coaches that have **** the bed here would say “it starts with me”. This **** saying the players suck when he recruited half of them! Of course he lost the team talking like that! Ain’t nobody gonna want to play for that faquit because as soon as they make a mistake he will throw them under the bus lmao. What a POS!!

Manolo is a huge ***ktard. Talent and especially speed are hallmarks of our legendary teams. Guys that were very gifted that were also extremely hard workers and extreme competitors.

I think you doubt how savage a Phagitt can be; BJ is already setting Manny up as the fall guy. At this point I’d rather fire BJ, keep manny for 2-3 years then throw the house at a real coach/staff. Firing Blake & Co sends a better message than firing Manny but I need him to win enough games to keep a decent recruiting class together for 20 & 21.

What "strength" is it you want shown? The guy who blew the assignment on the punt coverage is from "down here" who coached several times the fake was coming and he still blew it. As far as power football pulling guards and playing with two tight ends is to have open holes in the run game and to help add an extra blocker in the pass game. Its ine thing to throw a player under the bus for making one mistake I think that's wrong but when you tell someone this is going to happen and you coach them to be prepared for it and they still **** up 1 hour before you told them it was coming for a coach that's devastating because your putting them in a place to succeed and they **** up.

You are 100% right. They are both going down with the ship, they both suck and are dead men walking!. It’s over, it’s just a matter of time. You know it, I know it and majority of this board knows it.
However, Manny is not going to be let go until 2021(after the 2020 season), even if he doesn’t win another game. This is a **** poor University(I’m. A 2000 grad), with a **** poor administration and **** poor donors that are only concerned with lining their own
pockets! They don’t care about WINNING! They never have and never will.

I’m a UM graduate yr2000 and now have kids on my own. No way, now how would I spend 60+ K a year to send my kids and hard earned money to that incompetent **** show (n they where born and raised Canes!), it’s a colossal wast of money I’m not even talking about the football program. They are not good at ANYTHING they do. It is not only their football program, their law school, their medical program, even their architectural and film programs are considered third choices now. They are not good at anything!!!
We are not the UCS of the south, we’re the FSU of the south for 5x the price. It’s pathetic to see what this school has turned into. We can’t even laugh at FSU!
