fair and i'm not a beck apologist ... but how many td's were dropped? of the 30+ drops lets say a sixth of them were for td's ... that puts him up to 17 tds to 12 ints ...What those numbers dont tell you is that Beck had 12 TDs and 12 INTs in conference play. It was 14 and 12 if you want to consider the Clemson game into the equation.
One of my doctors here in Georgia actually quoted 8 million to me last week as the number he heard we paid Beck. (And this doctor did his neurosurgery residency at UM and worked on the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, so he’s not dumb.)
That’s a bargain in my book if he gets us #7.I heard it was 8 billion
I know, my husband and I both cracked up laughing and then set him straight.
He went to Texas undergrad though, so he’s a Longhorn fan. Maybe all that oil money has skewed his sense of reality.
As an aside, I once worked with a psychologist who did some grad work in the health care field and told me about a study she worked on. Apparently, a staggeringly high number of doctors are on the spectrum, much, much higher than the regular population. So while they are very book smart, many don’t have the best social skills.
You don't have to be dumb or uneducated to be credulous or in over your head on a topic. One of my doctors here in Georgia actually quoted 8 million to me last week as the number he heard we paid Beck. (And this doctor did his neurosurgery residency at UM and worked on the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, so he’s not dumb.)
A lot of them are also just men who get used to having other people do everything for them. I saw this a lot with other attorneys when I worked at firms. It was very annoying. They get used to their assistants and wives and housekeepers doing all the “menial” tasks for them. It’s just weaponized incompetence. Can confirm this. My buddy gets calls at all hours of the night….they don’t know how to find a rental car in the lot, they don’t know how to get the hospital (******* google maps maybe?). I was blown away at the total inability of these people to do simple human being tasks.
He got a call once from a doctor who was lost in the hospital. Mind you he just places these dudes, he’s never even been in this building. It was probably on the other side of the country. He said “go ask someone?” And the guy goes “Ok yeah good idea”. What??
Anyway, back to Beck. He’s gonna cook this year. I just hope that arm is 100.0% soon. He needs reps on reps with the receivers, all summer long.
Played 10/15 games, large enough sample size to measure the effect of him on the offense:See above…Bowers only played in September and October of the 2023 season.
Didn’t like our top3 wrs were at the top of the yac leaders last year and before cam? I doubt we have that againHoping it wasn't coach speak when Dawson mentioned he thought his skill players were more explosive this season than last.
Everyone is talking about the recieves dropping the ball but I think the bigger problem was the running game was horrible last yearIn 2023, McConkey or Bowers didn't play in 8 of their 12 regular season games.
Both those kids are awesome players, but as usual, reality gets completely rewritten to shape narratives and for some reason it's been twisted to make people think that Beck is an average player who was carried entirely by Bowers and Ladd for the 2023 season.
Again, they only played 4 games together.
Here are Beck's numbers in games without McConkey, Bowers, or both:
21/31 for 294 and 1 TD, 0 INTs in Week 1 (no McConkey)
23/30 for 283 and 2 TDs, 1 INT in Week 2 (no McConkey)
27/35 for 269 and 0 TDs, 0 INT in Week 3 (no McConkey)
22/32 for 338 and 3 TDs, 0 INT in Week 4 (no McConkey)
19/28 for 315 and 2 TDs, 0 INT in Week 8 (no Bowers)
21/32 for 254 and 2 TDs, 0 INTs in Week 9 (no Bowers)
24/30 for 298 and 3 TDs, 0 INTs in Week 11 (no McConkey)
13/20 for 175 and 1 TD, 1 INT in Week 12 (no McConkey or Bowers)
One subpar game, last game of the regular season against GT. The rest of the year, he was pretty ******* good. In 8 of the 12 regular season games, one of the 2 best WRs didn't play. The difference, IMO, was the running game in 2023 vs 2024. Miami should be able to run the ball very effectively in 2025 for Beck.
Link to the full article below, which has a bunch of cool notes (Bain on Beck, UGA staff sources telling Hale they didn't want to lose Beck). Below is a quick stat analysis which matches the eye test:
What if I told you one of these QBs is getting love as a potential No. 1 draft pick for 2026 and the other is coming off a "down year"?
QB A: 82.3 QBR, 28 TD passes, 12 INTs, 64.7% completions, 7.78 yards per attempt
QB B: 79.1 QBR, 29 TD passes, 12 INTs, 64.2% completions, 7.72 yards per attempt
So, who's the hot shot and who's spiraling downward? QB B is LSU's Nussmeier, who's a favorite in the way-too-early mock drafts. QB A is Miami's Beck, who was supposed to be a possible No. 1 pick until his 2024 performance drew heavy criticism.
OK, one more.
QB A: 72% completions, 9.45 yards per pass, 24 touchdown passes, 3,941 passing yards
QB B: 73% completions, 8.74 yards per pass, 29 touchdown passes, 3,917 passing yards
QB B looks a tick better, right? Well, QB A is Beck's 2023 season at Georgia, when he was lauded as one of the nation's best. QB B is Beck's 2024 season at Georgia, if you adjust his stat line to the same rate of drops and contested catches by his receiving corps in 2024 that he had in 2023.
You forgot # 4 Jeff Thomas , he could Strike fear into a Secondary with Speed.Think the structure of Dawson's offense can account for this. Just need some combination of Slot/TE to win 1 on 1 matchups consistently. Otherwise, guys will be schemed open. There hasn't been a true "A1" outside guy since Ahmmon. Excluding Restrepo, next closest thing is what? Charleston Rambo or Stacy Coley?
StopIll say it again...if Beck is 80% of Cam and our Defense is just average we are at worst the same team as last year...but in all likelihood better.
And I think that is going to be relatively easy. Esp considering our OL should be top 10 and we will be able to pound on some teams when needed...esp late in closer games.
not saying he is Cam Ward...Im eluding to if he gives us 80% of what Ward did (on field play).Stop![]()
Comparing Cam Ward & Carson Beck. They are not The same type of QB. Is like Comparing Vinny Testeverde with Steve Walsh.
They have there Strength & Weakness
With the ability to To Lead a Certain way.
Beck is actually Mobile with Some Straight line Speed once he Accelerates but his Game is his **Arm ,Ball Placement Distribution all over the Field especially tight Windowsover the Middle & pushing the Ball Deep on a Rope.
I agree with you .not saying he is Cam Ward...Im eluding to if he gives us 80% of what Ward did (on field play).
Just keep him upright and we should be fine.
