Interesting article on the backup QBs

No justification other than my gut, but I feel Cade is our best option. Really wish he could have played last week; even if it was for 3 drives.

Savanna St. will prove nothing, to him or the fans. However, going out and completing a few passes and gaining first downs vs. LSU would have done wonders for a QB’s confidence. Our’s too.

I agree. After the way Rosier stunk it up, he should have put Cade in for a couple of series early in the second half.

Instead we came out in the second half with no sense of urgency, plodding along on offense as if we had a 2 TD lead.

Total ***** up job by Richt. I attribute this primarily due to his focus on his role as OC. He needs to focus on being the HC not the OC.

I don't think he has the mental energy to do both. He looks like a beat up rag doll, barely able to think straight.

This is stupid. OP’s point is perry’s great, weldon’t great, Williams too.

But rosier starts. And LSU was up on us 33-3 on us.

Feel as good as you want to about your backup QBs. I’ll note that Richt didnt start any of them.

What?

The point is to get people excited for seeing these guys in real football, starting today.

We will find out who can play over the next few weeks.

My hope is this is our watershed moment at QB, we sacrificed a win for Rosier now one of the young guys gets to take over the reigns.
I couldn't help but be ****ed watching ESPNs college football show last night and them heaping praise on USC's 18yr old TF QB.

Canes should've have had hired an O.C. in the offseason to handle all these weapons at his disposal. Also, a special teams coach. L$U game would've been somewhat different outcome. Co-offensive coor. and qb coach(nepotism) was a bad decision. Never set right with me. Richt needs to be CEO only.

Look at the multitude of game breakdowns, it wasn't the playcalling...the plays were there to be made...lots of them.

Lets stop analyzing the minutiae of this QB situation. Its this simple, really...Richt needs some balls to just play one of these guys.

Week 1 saw Trevor Lawrence (Clemson), Art Sitkowski (Rutgers), Zack Annexstad (Minnesota) and JT Daniel (USC) play heavy and in most cases START week one as true f'n freshmen...AND THEY ALL WON.

...and this week Adrian Martinez (Nebraska) will start in his team's first game.

I don't need to go into all of the recent success freshmen and second year (RSFr) quarterbacks. Its not 1998. Freshmen QBs are all the rage. If they can play THEY PLAY. Let'em learn.

I'm done with Rosier, but its not his fault Richt keeps putting him out there over our 4* QB recruits. Shameful that Perry and Williams (and extending it to Weldon) haven't even taken a live snap in a real game yet. That's just negligence at this point.

Watching Rosier, brings back childhood memories of playing pin the tail on the donkey. The only thing different is that I was wearing a blindfold.

Perry couldn't even read defenses when he got here so anything his coach says is irrelevant to me.

Can Malik read defenses better as a 5th year senior? Maybe in practice but in games it doesn’t look like he can make any read besides his first

Or worse what’s the point of making the best reads if you can’t throw it to an open man?

I agree I question Jon Richt being on the staff but these calls for an OC are not warranted. We had receivers open all night vs LSU but had a qb throwing passes like he's trap shooting. Richt's play calling isn't the issue it's his poor development of the backup qbs. Rosier getting all the time with 1's over summer bit us immediately this season.

“What N’Kosi does on the football field just amazes me,” Farmer said. “He would never let us down."

That's pretty canned - he's already let the Canes down in Spring/Summer by still not having command of the playbook and clearly beating out the guy(s) ahead of him, after a year in the program.

He, nor the other guys were really given the opportunity. You think there's a legit QB competition when Rosier was the only one with the opportunity to play with the 1's?

I hope for the next 3 games Rosier plays one set then sits, allowing the other QBs to play. If after game 4 no one has stepped up, I don't want to throw the season away then we start Rosier, but if one of the 3 freshman plays well its time to allow him to start vs North Carolina and the week after vs FSU. Its a way to slowly allow the new starting QB to ease into the job.

WE must be prepared for transfers, it happens all over College football and specially at the QB position. With no QB committed we must recruit a decent hs qb PLUS consider a transfer. Last night Scalzo had over 300 yards vs a decent Dillard defense.... we took Williams from Kentucky last year he is also committed there.
