Indiana cheating ?

Yeah, you're not wrong.

I have seen YouTube videos that make the most ridiculous claims. A ref smiling is proof the game was rigged.

I hate to sound like them but sometimes I do raise an eyebrow now and then.

I cant accuse them of cheating if i dont know it for a fact. But you would be a dam fool to just dismiss it out of hand. Alot of these coaches are unscrupulous, and will do whatever to win. They do seem to have a beat on alot of plays. Its one thing to have an idea of what is coming, its a whole other thing, game after game basically the whole eleven reacting the same way to certain plays. Like I said, it is suspicious. When people started talking about Michigan, most people probably dismissed it as conspiracies. You just never know. I hope the coaches change everything just in case. Also one thing that helps us, is we huddle, alot of teams dont.

Agreed. With the amount of money in football today I have a hard time seeing a player in this day and age throwing or shaving points in a game. I suppose it could happen though. I suppose a kicker could miss a FG or PAT. I suppose a receiver could drop a pass you would expect them to catch 100 out of 100 times.

I do think there’s a problem with college football with the general incompetence with regards to officiating. Or at least inconsistencies between conferences. There’s a reason why the visiting team usually brings their conference officials for interconference games. There’s a reason why bowl games have officials from other conferences.

I do think some officials have personal axes to grind or let their ego get in the way.

Look at how few times Miami was penalized against Texas A&M and Ohio State. I don’t think we had a single penalty against the Buckeyes, at least one that was accepted.

The best officiating crews are those that view their role as “ no one comes here to see us “ and let the players play. If there’s an egregious penalty, it obviously should be called and it’s unfortunate if called at the worst of times.

Miami went back to having a good number of penalties against Ole Miss. Other than the targeting call, I don’t know that any were bad. If the refs really wanted to stick it to Miami, they would’ve called pass interference on the Hail Mary and give Ole Miss one more chance.

This reminds me of a comment Jack Lambert made when the Steelers were playing the Cowboys in the Super Bowl. He had a good idea what the play call was because Preston Pearson put his mouthpiece in if the Cowboys going to run the ball. Or something like that.

Well coached players will look for every little key to what to expect.

Not football, but Mark Rober created an app using machine learning to accurately predict if a baserunner was going to steal a base or not. Video is from six years ago. Wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that coaches are pushing into every margin to gain any advantage.

I had such bad eye sight in High School, before UM Bascom Palmer LASIK, that I told my coach not to bother giving me a steal sign or not.
I also told my catchers my JR and SR year not to bother giving me the sign. Just catch what I throw.

Couldn’t see ****. 🤣

They weren’t stealing signs for me. 🤣
 
I think these cheating allegations are a load of bunk, at least as far as hacking into the computer systems.

Hypothetically, is it cheating if a team took a season-to-date worth of game tape of an opponent and used AI to forecast tendencies? Anything from play call probability to individual player matchups? Don’t teams have access to television game film?

They are well coached. The big10 also is a cheating conference which we have seen. Maybe its some gamesmanship in between..ut i know they are well coached. I fully expect their dl to constantly try to get us to false start and get us behind the sticks.

Indiana was the losingest program in CFB history before Cignetti arrived, like literally numero uno. And since 2006-2023 before he got there Indiana & Rutgers had almost the exact same record, Indiana had one more win in that time frame (82-137 vs 81-137). But also the question was somewhat rhetorical, because I don't think Catapult is illegally feeding data to Indiana. A billion dollar UK company isn't going to jeopardize it's credibility so Mark Cuban who only owns 5% of the shares can give the upper hand to his fave CFB team.

And for the actual game, yeah you're right. We can't beat ourselves. I think if we stay under 5 penalties and no more than 1 turnover we have a really good shot to win this thing. It'll be interesting to see if we get that BIG 12 Ref crew from A&M that let the boys play.

The question is, and I’m not at all saying it has occurred, but how many employees have access? How many private contractors have access? How many University research Departments have access?
Is it completely implausible to think that no one with access might take $100k under the table to access the system a few times?

The whole **** country and world are corrupt these days.

What Belichick and Michigan did were unthinkable years ago, but then Leach did a video showing that Texas tried to use a planted play script decades ago, so maybe we were just naive and this **** has gone on for a long time and most of it just was never caught.

Shula was far more ethical than Belichick, and yet he had the groundskeepers at the OB leave the sprinklers on all night to slow down the Jets passing game in the playoffs. Was that cheating?

New England brought out a snow blower to win a game against Miami by giving their kicker an advantage. Was that cheating?

It’s a little known fact that a few NFL QB’s threw games for a Chicago bookie in the 1980’s.

Groundskeepers at MLB fields would groom the grass/field to give or take away advantage in bunting.

Did blue chips flock to Bama because of Nick Saban’s warm personality or the nightlife in Tuscaloosa?

College football is high stakes and big money now with no enforcement like the NFL.

People cheat. I’ve seen a-holes cheat at dime ante poker. Hope for the best in people, expect the worst.

UM just needs to take precautions. Let OSU worry about Indiana. IF they are cheating, the Buttnuts will figure it out.

From experience: knowing exactly what the other team is doing can be an absolutely massive advantage. Massive.

We better be changing all our communication, including encrypting our radio communications.

None of this was cheating because it was not illegal..if u watch European soccer, teams water the field to make the ball roll slicker. Other teams keep it dry to make the game scrappy. Nothing wrong with it.

Cheating for me, is using illegal methods to figure out the opposing team's plays before they are called. What Michigan did was cheating if Indiana has a system to do that, its also cheating. Not saying they are.
