in these tough times, I feel we have to do something collectively here at CIS...

Eddie Brown was an outstanding Athlete in 4 Sports....Why his name doesn't come up more often in a Top 3-4 WR at UM Debate is troubling....Him...Shakes and Dennison were No Joke....

Great highlight vid. Thanks OP.

Sidenote - Dorsey squeezed out every ounce of physical talent he had and left it on the field, as well as his pass-catchers talents.

It's amazing how much better Miami's offense ran when Dorsey came in at the end of 1999. At the very least, he made good decisions and consistently accurate throws. I learned right then and there, I don't want any QBs that play other sports and wouldn't participate in spring ball

appreciate the greatness of 'the Carol City Comet', Santana Moss. For my money, one of the top 25 players all-time at UM. Yeah, I said it. Did I stutter?

By the time he left Miami he was in the top five in just about every statistical category for a WR and TD's and was a deluxe return man. On my all-Miami team, he's my slot receiever

He had the best acceleration and explosion of any Hurricane WR, or at least right up there with Eddie Brown.

I believe if he had a better QBs in his NFL career (and he had a great career, regardless), he could've been in Canton.

In his own words, he was a big time player, who made big time plays, in big time games. Enjoy:

I agree 100% with this. My favorite offensive player was Santana Moss and my favorite defensive player was Sean Taylor.

At UM....Tana is waayyyyy ahead of Dre...and trust me...I love Dre...But Dre only had 1 Great yr...2001...and it was 100% at WR.....Tana was a Force to be reckoned with from Jump....and was a weapon at more than 1 position....
It’s just about definitions, not trust. Dre was key to our last title team, and obviously a better overall career including pros (HOF level). Moss had a great UM career but didn’t win a title and didn’t have the pro career Dre did. No one defined the criteria here. Open debate, but notice I did put Moss over Dre also - just see it as close the way i define it.

Your post highlights a really important topic we rarely discuss. We recruit for upside - probably way too much so at some positions. At QB, a good decision-maker who is okay athletically surrounded by the talent we should be able to recruit is a no brainer. But we haven’t had a good QB in ages, because we strive for greatness (and fail) rather than game manager and smart. OL has some similarities. This is a recruiting strategy and eval topic but warrants consideration. Perry and JW has more upside than Kenny D. But they weren’t / aren’t the QB he was.

Moss had some big drops early in his career at UM, but in ‘99 and ‘00 he was amazing.

Just watch his big catches in the ‘99 Ohio State* and FSU games where he made mockery of their entire defenses. He goes up and gets the ball and then it’s like everything freezes and he starts to move a split second before everyone else unfreezes. It’s wild.

the way he would turn the corner on punt returns and then hit top speed in a straight line, you could see his track background. His form looked perfect, like a little sawed off version of Michael Johnson in the 200 meter dash. But a lot of guys have great top end and long speed, Santana also had that unreal quick stop and start ability to make people miss.
