in these tough times, I feel we have to do something collectively here at CIS...

Moss got snubbed from like 3 pro bowls. His 3rd yr w the Jets he had a helluva yr, and I believe it was back to back seasons in like 08, 09 or 08, 10...Moss had great seasons as well.

I don’t even recall Moss’ QBs w the exception of Brunnell. He & AJ never great QB‘s to play for unlike Waynes and Irvin(g). He put up over 10k yrds, and I agree w @k9cane, he plays on better teams and has a QB worth a ****, he’s vying for Canton.
Vinny, Pennington, Brunell, Jason Campbell, Rex Grossman, Mcnabb, RG3, Cousins, and Colt Mccoy

**** he was a beast, look at the names we had still even in the down times. We still had the best players period end of story

Totally forgot he was 48 for a year. One of the all time best at adjusting to the ball while it was in the air. He was electric athletically but his ability to see the ball and adjust while in the middle of a full speed route was absolutely uncanny.

appreciate the greatness of 'the Carol City Comet', Santana Moss. For my money, one of the top 25 players all-time at UM. Yeah, I said it. Did I stutter?

By the time he left Miami he was in the top five in just about every statistical category for a WR and TD's and was a deluxe return man. On my all-Miami team, he's my slot receiever

He had the best acceleration and explosion of any Hurricane WR, or at least right up there with Eddie Brown.

I believe if he had a better QBs in his NFL career (and he had a great career, regardless), he could've been in Canton.

In his own words, he was a big time player, who made big time plays, in big time games. Enjoy:

Love Moss, but engaging your OP for discussion....

Hard to compare offense vs. defense for all time UM. but is he top 13 all time offensively?

IMO the following dozen folks must be on that list:

QB: Kelly (HOF, put us on map), Kosar (won it for us), Vinny T and Toretta (Heismans)
WRs: Irvin and Wayne
Backs: Edge, Foreman
Line: Otto (HOF), Searcy (3XNC), McKinnie (dominated), Harrah (our most accomplished modern era OL)

Debate welcome. This leaves one spot on the offense top 13 list:

Candidates (first choice for group identified):

QB: Walsh [Dorsey, Erickson]
WR: E. Brown [Moss, Thomas, Copeland]
Backs: O. Anderson [McGahee, Portis, Duke, Highsmith, Gore, Gary]
TE: Franks [Shockey, KWII]
OL:
K: Huerta

My view is Walsh belongs on the top 13 list, and above 13th.

All very valid, but in keeping with the off-season theme, I'm going spread, and he's my slot WR. Also he has the numbers to back it up, in terms of catches, receiving yards, all-purpose yards, TD, and --- impact plays, and meaning to the program. But yeah, the other guys have a great case too, Miami has been blessed with some unreal talent

Moss is actually on my My Rushmore of Miami WR's. I know I'm in the minority on that, too

He's one of those guys who can't be properly appreciated unless you saw him do it. He was a shot in the arm for this program at just the right time.

guys like him, Edge, Wayne, Morgan, Damione Lewis, they didn't national titles -- but without them, 2001 never occurs. They should be given credit for all their contributions in that Butch-era rebuild

He's my Slot Guy as well....With Kevin Williams 1B....

Yeah, the original slot WR at UM was Wesley Carroll (Erickson called that position the 'tailback' in his offense), 81 really could work the middle of the field. But I prefer Santana and Williams based on pure speed and quickness

We’re not far apart on this. I’d have him as my 4th receiver after eddie brown and the Top 2. Hard to imagine there’s debate over Irvin/Wayne. Andre deserves mention (omitted him above), but for overall UM career, I’d put Moss ahead.

Carroll was great at UM. KW also.

Poor guy was cursed with sh1tty QBs throughout his college and pro careers, but his natural ability and toughness were never in question.

At UM....Tana is waayyyyy ahead of Dre...and trust me...I love Dre...But Dre only had 1 Great yr...2001...and it was 100% at WR.....Tana was a Force to be reckoned with from Jump....and was a weapon at more than 1 position....

Covington was far from Sh*tty...his teammate posts on here....Absolute Rifle for an arm....Butch kinda messed that up with the Clements/Covington situation...but make no mistake about it...Scott was far from ******....

Great highlight vid. Thanks OP.

Sidenote - Dorsey squeezed out every ounce of physical talent he had and left it on the field, as well as his pass-catchers talents.
