Tennessee's team ERA is 1.74. The pitching staff has allowed just 50 runs and 62 earned runs in 29 games. The next best team has allowed 71 and 92 respectively. As a comparison, the U has allowed 133 and 132, and I think Miami has pretty good pitching. The Vols also have a closer that 104 mph in a game.
Last time I looked a week or two ago, they also led the country in home runs hit.

Joyce isn't even the closer. Not that they've needed a "closer" the way they've been bludgeoning teams (only 5 save opportunities in 28 wins). They have a little 3/4 arm slot lefty who throws mostly sliders that does the dirty work.

You're right. The team only has 5 saves on the year because they keep abusing everyone.

Speaking of impressive #s, this shows how dominant Virginia has been. Tenn is the clear #1, but Virginia is on their own tier at #2.

Cavs: 25-3, 9-3 ACC, No. 10 RPI. Offense: .335/.443/.554. Pitching: 2.87 ERA, 319Ks, 103BBs. Defense: .983.

Canes: 22-6, 10-2 ACC. No. 8 RPI. Offense: .289/.400/.450. Pitching: 3.85 ERA, 314Ks, 111BBs. Defense: .971

The Cavaliers are now leading the nation in batting with that .335 team average. They also happen to be fourth in ERA too,

Let's see how they handle getting swept this weekend.

I will say UVA's non-conference schedule has been awful.

Gino mentioned in his presser that our field percentage is extremely high during this 10 game winning streak. Keep this stat up, wake up on the base paths, and limit walks… this team will be tough to beat

We had 9 errors in 4 games that ucf/clemson week - only 5 since. Whatever was said in the locker room after Sunday at Clemson, worked. And whoever said it should bottle that advice and sell it.

That will certainly skew the stats in their favor with a weaker non-conference schedule.

UVA has an RPI of 5, but their SoS is 84. Miami has an RPI of 9, while our SoS is 22.

In their 2-1 series win last week against Georgia Tech, UVA gave up 6, 9, and 9 runs. They also gave up 8 runs in their Sunday loss to Wake Forest and 8 runs in their Sunday win against BC. Wake, GT, and BC are all very good hitting teams, but it’s encouraging that their Sunday pitching seems to be their Achilles heel as 2 of their 3 conferences losses have come on Sunday and in their 2 Sunday wins, they gave up 8 and 9 runs.

UVA hits really well. However, the ACC teams they've faced thus far, don't have the best pitching. Let's see how they fair against our guys.

If we can get the win tonight, there's a very good opportunity to get the series win on Sunday and perhaps even a sweep.
