The University of Miami has hired Josh Darrow as its new Assistant Director of Player Personnel. He will take the position formerly occupied by Kevin Beard, who was recently promoted to wide receivers coach.
Why is this a significant hire for Miami? Over the last few years with the launch of his website SFHSSPORTS.com, Darrow has revolutionized the coverage of high school football in South Florida from a media perspective. His vast connections in the Dade and Broward areas are perfect for this position, which consists of many recruiting-related tasks. He will be involved in dealing with high school coaches, getting coaches and recruits to campus and events.
Darrow is one of the most well-respected and hard-working individuals in the business. Although this is technically a new career path for him, I have no doubt that his experience and knowledge from the last few years will be carried over into his position at Miami. He understands the recruiting process from every angle possible, which is why I am a huge fan of this unique hire.
