the issue is accountability.

that’s why as much as I love Ed Reed.

highsmith was the guy that was needed.

someone who wanted to come in here and ruffle feathers.

As for Highsmith...IMO

1. He had no interest in working for a tranny ***ing puppet.
2. He had no interest in supporting Manny Diaz as coach.

Why would he want to be here?

None of which acknowledges the tremendous elephant in the room.

As for Reed, what do you expect him to do?

It is a simple fix, we just don't want to do it.

The $ec is the dirtiest conference in the world,

The money IS the major issue.

There are a couple of schools (think Michigan, Texas) where the return on investment has been limited, but mostly, the successful teams are the ones with the most money to throw around. It wasn't always that way, because the NCAA used to strive for the perception of amateurism. But that's gone now, and the NCAA doesn't run college football, ESPN and the major conferences do. The NCAA just cashes checks and doesn't rock the boat.

To think otherwise is silly. Fans like to criticize the Athletic department, and rightfully so, for its failures of the last two decades, but to imagine that the deck isn't set against the program is asinine.

Not that there aren’t real issue here that should be addresses, we also shouldn’t pretend there aren’t structural disadvantages in the current system that make it almost impossible to compete. Mostly around recruiting. Is it possible to overcome them, yes....but that doesn’t mean it’s likely. Clemson pretty much threaded the needle to get to where they are, and they themselves paid for specific recruits to compete. They were just smart about where they invested the dollars. Now they are rolling and it builds on itself.

Expand playoffs... otherwise there is a built in incumbent advantage
This is silly. Every time I read it I don’t know if I should laugh hysterically or scream.

Expanding the playoffs only adds more teams that have no chance of winning. If the 4 seed can’t play with Bama, why would the 8th or the 16th? Stop it, it’s silly.

Excessive Bumping
Or we could actual address the real issue.

1. Fire Blake James.
2. Bring in a competent AD with passion and autonomy.
3. Allow this person to run the department.

Why don't we try this simple fix first?

IMO your points have ZERO to do with us being down...or why Bama Is King of CFB.

The top teams have made their football program into BIG MONEY operations — spending big and making big money.

Everyone else can’t keep up and keep replaying the “amateur student athlete” model of CFB that disappeared in the 90’s.

The top teams are essentially NFL-lite teams now.

...Miami and everyone else are just target practice for them.

Not only that, those teams who may have a punchers chance to take down a Bama now have to run the gauntlet after a long season. Injuries pile up, guys get tired and those teams will never have Bama depth.
