If you could reverse the outcome of one game in Hurricanes history, which would it be?

1986 vs Penn State?
1988 vs Notre Dame?
2002 vs Ohio State?
This year vs Indiana?
Others?

And the reason why? For example, beating Ohio State (which was pure robbery) would have been back-to-back national championships.

What about something that was a positive that became a negative? Like 01 sugar bowl vs UF?

What if we lose that game and Butch doesn’t get offered Browns job. Then Miami wins 3 national titles in next 5-7 years

I'm taking this year honestly. Cementing us as a title winner in a new era of NIL football at a time where we are vying to find a spot in the P2 or risk permanent irrelevance by getting stuck in the ACC, would be too good to pass up. Not to mention winning this year puts an end to the "haven't won anything in 20+ years" conversations.

All 4 of those games are crimes against humanity...

Ohio State. We never recovered from that

Off topic I know but sometimes I think about how close Miami was to a 4-peat.

Beat Tennessee in the '86 Sugar Bowl--Champs
Beat the Pedos in the '87 Fiesta---Champs
Won it in the '87 season.
Beat ND in '88? Who was going to beat Miami? WVirginia? Please., lol.

I don't want any reversed. If the 1988 game against ND had been called correctly, we'd have won, same with 2002 vs OSU. For that matter the GT game 2 years ago wouldn't have been a loss if called correctly.

Wouldn't have mattered if we won though (besides having #6). We didn't realize it then, but Coker wasn't the guy to keep the machine humming along. He was a soft coach, lazy recruiter, and had zero clue how to run an organization.

The years following 2002 our recruiting classes (based off class ranks) were among the best until the wheels came off.

Compounding the issues with Coker, we also had a cheap and aimless administration.

The 2002 game has never bothered me to be honest. Once I saw the invitations for the after party I knew we were cooked, and didn’t even feel bad for the team they lost when it happened

This year though, that team was magic. It deserved to go out on top

If we just throw the ball to Mali we win that game

**** shame

1988.
Would have been back to back to back.

This years game against Indiana. I was at the 2001 game with my parents and this year I was there with my parents and my wife and daughter. To win one each time would have been incredible for me personally.

Would have been a 5-peat.

We won it in 1989 as well.

There’s only one right answer here.

While I appreciate the off season-ness of this thread… nothing surpasses being robbed of that Natty.

Unless… it gets fully proven that Indiana cheated then we’d be on the end of two travesties. How funny would that be?

Gosh I am lucky to be older. I went to every one of those games.
I’d take Indiana now because I realize just how hard it was getting back to this point and enjoyed every minute.

2026 vs IU for obvious reasons.

2000 vs Washington a close second but the success was sending Butch to the pros either way so it wouldn’t have changed Coker getting the job or why happened in 2003 onwards.

Still think VT in the Fiesta Bowl does what he did regardless of the fatigues so we’re not overcoming VT regardless of what anyone else did - definitely not counting that one
