Acc stretch of our schedule will always be our hardest idc who the out of conference matchups are. Every year it’s the acc that gives us issues

Its a different level of studying when you know to win the conference you have to beat Miami. It’s a full off season of prep for us

Also when the line drops 5 pts once the refs for the game are leaked. You know theres more to it than just conference familiarity and being another teams super bowl.
 
Anyone criticizing Mario after that run to end the season is just looking for something to complain about. Entire season on the line every week and they brought it.
Stop for a second and remember we missed a title by essentially two plays, was he perfect, no…but com’on man!

Eh, don’t forget the two BS penalties early in the LVille game to stall out drives….and then the phantom fair catch signal. The one penalty IIRC was a hold and then the real nonsense UC against Mali where he pancaked a guy and jumped up and stood there for a second. Both stalled out drives putting us behind the sticks. Yeah we did plenty to lose but getting us down 14-0 early pushed Beck to try to win the game himself.

That’s the biggest question mark for me this season. And you didn’t even list Bain and Mesidor. But yeah, how we replace Keionte Scott, Jakobe, Bain, CiCi, Coop, etc will be fun to see. Those dudes just played with a different mentality.
 
Every coach makes bad tactical decision now and then - Saban himself made plenty.

What matters is the ratio of good to bad. And on that measure, Mario has improved tremendously.

This. Anyone who says Mario isn’t a top five coach in college football right now is just pushing a narrative or gives you that game day coach nonsense, which he dispelled last year. Let alone the fact that game day only counts for a dozen or so days in the year when the head coach job is 24/7, 365.

Last I checked HC’s job is to win games and build a program for sustained success. If you include the Oregon days (and a lot of the national press has forgotten that Oregon wasn’t doing Shiite before he got there), the only ones I have ranked ahead of him right now are Ryan Day, Cignetti, and Kirby Smart.

I mean Mali still running if they dont tackle him for the first INT and also blow the bull**** fair catch. The ACC allowed every team to simulate the snap in short yardage all year and Louisville was the most egregious offender. Not to mention somehow the mighty ACC kept Bain and Mesi from creating sacks all year but once we lined up against 4 of the top O lines in the country they were unblockable. Did our line level up or did they just get to play in a game officiated fairly.

The ACC refs strategically manage our games, they have for years and Ill never believe otherwise.

**** happens in college football but it really took a somewhat miraculous start for Louisville

They emptied the entire playbook. Got a fake field goal to barely work. Huge penalty on Mauigoa which rarely happens, to pin us way back

While Beck went full TVD, 2-3 of those picks were absolute circus catches as well.

I want to see the numbers and a statistical probability how a team could be one of the most penalized in conference yet OOC the penalties are minimal. Make it make sense.
