If there’s no Football

The Miami athletic department is broke along with our donor base. Take away the money that keeps us afloat and we’re in trouble. This is not even taking into consideration our lack of success in all 3 money making sports in last few years. This won’t be just a Miami issue though. This will be the case in most athletic departments in ACC excluding Clemson and UNC

You know all of this...how?

Obviously. But very, very few draft prospects would play. No Trevor Lawrence, no Justin Fields, no Rousseau, no Brevin Jordan, etc, etc, etc.

Sure, it's better than nothing. But it'd be really, really ****** to play in the spring.
Be like watching the second half of NFL preseason games.

Let’s see those balance sheets
I can’t give you any of that. I can just tell you what I was told from those in the athletic department that we had relationships with. It shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise given our lack of success and lack of donor funding. For god sakes it took close to 5 years to get a IPF funded. Majority of power 5 power houses get that done in a year. Tops

Most of the states that have been hit the hardest had 12-14 week cycles with this thing (LA/Mardi Gras being the outlier).
Looks like Florida started getting slammed around June 24th.

Let's not get into a ****ing contest because I will own you in this one.
Oh please let's do. Shall we count by continents, countries, cities, provinces, valleys???

This should be good.

If you can get to 58 countries, then you have me beat. Go start! And, Gainesville doesn't count as a country in this tally.
71-ish last check (I stopped counting after 65 one night in a bar). Continents include Antarctica.

I do tip my hat to you sir...58 is a strong number...well done and keep going!!!!

Oh..we need a ruling on how to count HK.

73-ish if we count Gainesville and Tuscaloosa....hahahaha

I was in Asia in multiple countries from Jan through March this year so I did see how different countries out there were responding to the virus (ie: Taiwan). Then I flew back to the USA via JFK and we weren't doing anything. It was laughable. They were letting everyone in without questions, without masks, without temperature checks, without hand sanitizer at counters. It didn't surprise me the least to see NYC become the first epicenter in the Americas. And it is keeps getting worse and worse, and here we are.... And my point .... because of this continued incompetence, we won't have football.

71 is insane!!!

Spoke to someone last night and basically it’s looking pretty bad right now that we won’t get a season in. With that being said what would miss the most if the season is canceled?
For me:
- Not being able to see 2 possible 1st rd draft picks in Roche and GR15
- not seeing arguably the most explosive qb we’ve had at the U in King.
- how good our o line might be
- a 21century high octane offense.
this is all speculative......

I’m not saying that I doubt that somebody told you that. I actually have seen balance sheets though. I’ve got some rattling around on this fūcking device somewhere, I’ll just have to find them. iOS has the worst indexing and search system of all fūcking time.

It may be that the athletic department runs deficits from time to time, but from what I recall, and again I’m only going off recollection, the revenue from the football program exceeded the football expenses for the few years that I saw. Let me see if I can find that.

I’m not saying you’re full of shlt, it’s just that the person you spoke to may not have given you the entire picture, I don’t know. Then again maybe I looked at the balance sheet incorrectly.

If we don't have a season I wish the ncaa would just give the players a mulligan on the year of eligibility.
I know that is probably impossible but it would be fair.

The NFL would absolutely move the draft. No way they'd want that backlash, especially given how PR conscious they are.

The NFL could not allow what just happened in the NHL Draft. That was embarrassing. The worst team in the league by a country mile is picking 4th, while a playoff team will pick first. Embarrassing.

If the NFL doesn't play this year, i can't see how they could justify draft order. If you keep it the same, bad teams that got elite players like QBs get elite players again while other teams picking 5-10 miss out on those elite players (while possibly being worse this year).....so that's not really fair. If you do a wide open lottery, a team like the Chiefs could pick first.....also not fair. All that could be a PR nightmare and lots of finger pointing.

They have to play something.....and if it means pushing back the draft, they have to push back the draft.

I've wondered about that. Let's take the Dolphins....say they pick again #5 in 2021 because it's the same draft order. They drafted Tua in 2020. Now let's say Trevor Lawrence is available at the 5 slot in 2021. Do they trade Tua before he even has had a snap in training camp?

Even the most optimistic folks think a vaccine for general use is a year away (Summer 2021), maybe longer. Not to mention probably half the country wouldn't opt to get vaccinated, at least early on.

The sizable portion of this country that would buy hydroxychloroquine from the guy at the gas station also selling shellfish from a cooler in his trunk before they'd go to the Cleveland Clinic for a free vaccine and a cookie is the elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about right now.

Sorry doom and gloom supporters we're playing football whether its fall or spring. Too many programs financially rely on it. The country is all about money after all.

Thank god it isn't just me. Just ran into this issue less than 5 minutes ago looking for something, this issue with iOS has seemingly been there forever.

Seriously. It can’t be just us.

I’ve got a bunch of files (too many) in my “books” app, and the search function seems worthless. In “notes” I’ll search for a word or phrase that I know is in a document, and zip.
