If Tates isn’t QB2

5 star qb??? Umm yeah.

That don't rate mofos 5 stars because they're development projects. He isn't the first successful OC that couldn't turn this guy into an all american. Ryan Day and Dan Enos? Couldn't pay for better college tutelage. Where has all the money and coaching gotten Tate at this point in his career? On the **** bench and he ain't getting younger.
This post shows how football illiterate you are. A large percentage of 5* Qbs don’t develop into anything and wind up transferring. Look at NFL rosters and you will see more qbs starting that we’re 3*s then 4 and 5*’s combined.

We got the number one question answered during the off season, and already we need to speculate on QB2. Can't we just enjoy having an answer?
Or how about if QB1 can stay QB1. I love how all these people want to crown him the Canes Savior are also going to the the first ones to go after his scalp if he struggles against UF.

yep..and the best opportunity might very well to just stick it out here and learn from Enos for his whole career..getting some nice back up minutes and becoming the best qb he can be.

We have 3 decent backup QBs. JW may not even finish the first game.

If, (serious IF), he can prove to be an acceptable receiver, having a package where he lines up in the backfield and give defenses fits trying to figure out what he'll do. He could provide a lot of value as a distraction.

He’s on the team...he’s got a scholly. Assuming (and this better be safe assumption) that he isn’t transferring, why not? What does it hurt to have him run some routes in practice and see if it sticks?

So many high school kids play both sides of the ball simply because they are athletic. Not saying he’d be defense, but unless he’s your QB2, give him a shot and see what u got.

Football illiterate?

What does star ratings and recruiting have to do with knowing the game of football? I've forgot more football than you'll ever know.

Stalking high school kids and studying star ratings doesn't make you a football savant.

Knowing how many 5 star Qbs panned out doesnt mean you know the mike linebackers responsibility in a 4-3, cover 6, single high safety.

So I'm confused by your post.

The point is... All the time, coaching, and dedication won't make that kid a P5 QB

His supposed "elite" athleticism has been vastly overstated on this board.

He's not a slot WR, he's a QB that can scramble pretty well.

Tate could stay & continue to work, it's possible he's the QB2 & will still have a chance to play this year, it's way too early for anybody to write him off just yet.

But if he's not the backup then he should transfer somewhere to a system that fits his ability, he would actually do well at programs like Miss St, Cuse or Penn St, they all run offenses that utilize the QB as apart of the run game heavy.

Not saying this in a ****ish way at all, but what were Julian Edelman’s measurables his 3rd year at Kent State? I’d guess pretty similar to Tate right now. I’m not saying he can or can’t make a move like that, honestly I haven’t given it much thought. But it’s probably premature to just laugh it off. Not sure he’s got that short area quickness you need at that spot but he’s a stocky and strong kid who is pretty athletic. And it’s been done before. Just saying, stranger things have happened....

And let’s be real, he’s not making the NFL or anywhere close at QB. That was known well before today’s decision. At 5’11, you’ve got to be an otherworldly thrower of the football, and he’s not and never will be. I think in a system tailored to his skills he can still be a really good college QB. But if he really wants to play in the NFL, he’s gotta consider another avenue. Not saying it will work, but I KNOW QB will not. Possibly another would. Scott Frost made the league as a safety after a **** of a college career as a QB.

apparently, there's a pic of his locker room name plate on the ground. guess he's gone?

Had a friend mention Mississippi with Rich Rod running the offense. Seems like a great fit.

yeah lets make him a WR where he'd be barried even further on a depth chart!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL he'd go from being 1 play away from being in the game, to never being in a game. Baby Njoku prob a starting WR at many schools won't even see the light of day.
