If Jarren had played last year

Every time I start thinking about how JW played against the turds I can’t help but wonder how much different things might have been if Richt had played him last year.

The year was done for the most part after the Duke loss so it couldn’t have been that.

He could have played 4 games without losing his RS so it couldn’t have been that.

Why didn’t Richt play him.He knew Rosier was gone and he was going to need to break in a new QB so did he really think that Perry was the guy and Williams wasn’t worth giving a shot?I just can’t get my head around why he wasn’t inserted to get game experience.

Just think how much better he might be if he had gotten 3-4 games of experience.

I appreciate all the good that the man did for this school especially walking away without putting us in a HUGE financial hole with the buyout and getting the IPF built.

But man I’d love to know how good JW would have been going into the season with some actual game experience.Gotta think he’s not standing back there holding the ball or maybe he’s able to find his check downs quicker if he had gotten the experience.

Why Mark Why ????? Why didn’t you play him ????

IDK man his own high school QB coach says JW had a lot going on wasnt focused and wasnt ready.. Hes played one game give him time

Mark Richt comments pretty much summed up why Williams did not play

“He throws a beautiful ball – deep ball, intermediate. You know, early on QBs don’t make the best decisions in practice, 7-on-7, all that. I mean, he throws it to the wrong guy from time to time, but he was so accurate that he would stick it on his heart. Whatever he threw at, he hit and that was really important,” Richt said of his former quarterback.

So he was doing the same things the others were doing, except he was being more accurate?

Oh I’m giving him time.

I think the kid is going to be a good one but there’s nothing like actual game experience. He had a chance to get 4 games of it against pretty decent competition. He got none.Even with all the BS Perry was pulling around the bowl game when everyone thought he’d play if things went south he wasn’t used.

I just think if he had gotten that experience maybe he makes those throws to JT when he’s open instead of taking a sack.Or he finds an open check down while he’s running for his life instead of taking a sack.

Things you learn under fire.It a shame his first fire had to come against the turds. He handled himself pretty good as it was.Just think how much better he might have been if he makes one or two of those throws to an open JT for scores instead of freezing and holding the ball 6-8 seconds getting sacked.

Sooooooo he was very accurate. So accurate that he didn’t play him 🤷‍♂️

Some of if not most of the blame for this should actually be on Jarren. He gave Rick an excuse not to play him and Rick at the time certainly wasn't looking forward to this season so he had an easy out in sticking with the mature Rosier and just dinking around with N'Kosi.

Kids mature at different speeds though and the variable with that process with 17/18/19 yr olds is crazy wide. All indications are that Jarren has made that step and is more than taking his opportunity seriously so the missed opportunity of him not being an overly mature true freshman combined with Rick's extreme reluctance to reward an immature kid does suck but it's not something we can or should overly regret.

It's like screaming into the void. You will never find answers

Not using him against Wisconsin made zero sense. Maybe he was worried the kid would get killed?

He simply didn’t know the offense well. Coming off such a successful season where we almost went undefeated, Ritch went with the safe pick at QB to give the team the best chance to win

W a qb battle going on all season there was never a chance really to give him reps.

We had to play Perry as much as possible

I’m not saying he should’ve been the starter at the beginning of the season or when we were still in contention. I’m saying at the end of the season he could’ve and should’ve gotten some type of playing time, especially in the Pinstripe Bowl.

I actually think this is the case with the Wisconsin game. He got him up throwing with 8 min. left. We just never got the ball back

IF we had a better Oline...
IF JT doesnt drop the punt...
IF Enos make adjustments to help the OTs
IF the D doesnt blow assignments and makes tackles Toney doesnt run for 60+ yards
IF Jarren knew how to read a defense

Can play the if game all day long

IF the refs called a legit game none of what you mentioned above would matter.
