IF Emory Starts/Plays……

BTW - There is program history here. In 1989 Craig erickson got injured and missed one game, at FSU. Freshman QB Gino Torretta started and played a complete game. The Canes lost 24-10 and Torretta struggled, but it did not mark the end of anything. The Canes still won the national title that year and Gino went on the win the Heisman a couple years later.
I, too, believe that if Emory starts vs FSU then Miami will lose by 2+ TDs, but will still go on to win the national title, and two years from now Emory will win the Heisman.

Give Emory the full playbook and be aggressive on offense. Same thing if you start Jacurri. Otherwise, they might as well stick with TVD.
Last i heard jacurri couldn't accurately throw the ball and hasn't taken a single game snap this yr. I can't imagine starting him on the road would go well at all. I think if it's not Van Dyke, it's gta be all in with Emory

Slippery slope giving Emory 1st team reps. Does that exacerbate the TVD issues or motivate him to be better?
Wtf does it matter. TVD has 11ints. Any QB, Pop Warner, HS,JUCO, college, Arena FB, Canadian FB, NFL, that has this many turnovers, gets benched. Play the Kid. At the very least he can run and throw better than The Venus de Milo we’ve had standing in the backfield. I like TVD, but change gotta come.

We can debate until we are blue in the face on TVD & Emory, etc.

TVD seems like he is broken.

It’s not all his fault. I believe the OC has been horrendous since the bye week. Nothing has changed in terms of play calling, route trees, adjustments l, etc. I believe he’s made TVD worse.

Doesn’t change the fact TVD is broken and to me needs a change in scenery.

I am willing to risk the career of Emory to see if it’s really Dawson the issue vs the QB.

Let’s roll with Emory.

Gino Toretta had his first start as a TF at FSU in 1989. Erickson broke a finger on his throwing hand, or something like that. Toretta threw 4 INTs and the Canes lost 24-10. In the end, Toretta gained valuable experience, starting 2-3 games. Worked out in the end.

And no, I am not claiming Emory is a future Heisman winner.

No, we cant start a freshman @QB... imagine what him losing would do to our recruiting.

Bain is a stoic leader, and playing the good soldier role

Believe me or not, I don’t care. I’m telling you there’s a good portion of the team, particularly on offense, that would prefer to ride out the rest of the year with a QB other than TVD

The question I have is whether it is injury related. Burrow had a leg injury and threw only 2 TDs on n his first four games. Tyler was injured at UNC and hasn’t thrown a touchdown since. I’m not convinced that his issues aren’t largely injury related, and if so it’s on the staff to ignore, “play me coach” and put in the healthy player.

Why is this even a discussion still amongst us. Seriously.
I’m not defending or criticizing the coaches, but can we at least not debate on CIS who should be playing QB after watching the last 3 games started by TVD?
If you want to have a discussion about what the coaches will do then do that. But a discussion on what the coaches should do is ridiculous. Emory Williams should have started every game after Georgia Tech. Even if Mario doesn’t blow that game at the end, TVD was bad. And he was not good against UNC, UVA and of course NCSU. He will never be good again at UM. He may have a few flashes after he transfers but regardless of the reason, he is completely and utterly finished As a QB at UM.

With all that out of the way, we can discuss what the coaches will do. Because the fact that TVD played the entire game against NCSU is already an absurdity. The fact that he even started that game after how he played against UVA is an absurdity. The fact that no one on the coaching staff made this easy and obvious decision 3 weeks ago is an absurdity. UM coaches have no guts whatsoever. Nick Saban pulled a national championship winning QB out of a game at halftime and inserted a freshman in the most important game of their season because he does not coach out of fear. Our boy is like a child compared to the guts Saban has, and I f*cking hate Saban.

Sorry for the rant but this is a borderline asinine discussion to even have.

And one more thing about TVD. He is playing behind a great Oline, rarely gets hit but still gets hurt? 99% of all college QB’s would kill to have the Oline and receivers and RB’s that TVD has, and what they would not do is allow every little injury to so utterly take them out of their game. I am over the injury excuse becuase this guy gets hit less than anyone and is hurt more? How is this even possible?

Bad luck? Or maybe every QB at this point in the season has some injuries but most play through and we don’t even hear about them. TVD reminds me of the basketball player who is “hurt” right after he misses a layup or throws away a pass. That same guy would not act like he was hurt had he made the layup.

Never has a player been hit less and hurt more.

Obviously, Mario is giving TVD plenty of rope. How much much longer that rope is the real question.
I honestly wouldn’t blame him. We aren’t winning the ACC so other than trying not to ruin a promising young QBs confidence see if TVD can turn it around. On the road Vs biggest rival and best team we play, I’d go with TVD and if he still has **** brain throws then I’d make a move if it’s just obvious he can’t help the team.

TVD has a chance to redeem himself this game and cement his future. He either rises to the occasion or goes down in flames. Let’s see what the kid has got!
