I completely disagree with the notion that it was a binary choice between Butch and Richt and no one else. No legitimate coaching search was conducted, no one in a position to do so actually did any homework or gave any thought to exactly what sort of coach might make the most sense here. Richt's hire was completely seat of the pants, with the inevitable outcome you would expect from such a lazy thoughtless hire. Don't think for a moment they did even the most cursory comparison between Richt and any other candidate.

recruiting, and developing talent to at least be competitive in his own conference. If he can't do it in the USA Conf. what makes you think he can in the ACC?
