Nobody “dislikes” Butch. We’re just sick of his cult. I’ve seen guys say he’s better than Saban on this board. Saban will retire the Goat while Butch will retire at FIU.

Once penalties were removed with the 25/year limit, it took several years to get back to 85. That's why he had to get creative and put redshirts on a track scholarship.

Face, nobody said that he's a better coach, but he's dam sure a better recruiter. Saban ain't all that anyway, think about it, think a little deeper than his record. That ***tard is allowed every advantage known to man, including cheating, no way the NCAA dogs ever gonna pay him a visit, he'd have em fired the next day. What would Finebaum do man without his God to worship on tv 24-7. When you have the best players in the country 3 deep, well only Mack Brown could F that up. Dabo dont seem to have a problem outcoaching him, and I bet he's straight up. Nikki bout had a mental breakdown when he got to the bigs, too big for him. You give both equal talent *** whips Saban's *** every time, he's a better football coach. When we had that kid committed, forgot his name, Saban decided he wanted him at the last minute, flew in on the Bama copter landed on their football field and hired the kids dad to coach at Bama just to get the kid. That's bull****. If Texas had that situation and Nikki tried that **** some crazy Horn fan would shoot him down guaranteed, over some cow pasture, nobody would say a thing

1. Butch was hired after the disaster under Erickson. You know, fraud, etc? No, of course you don't know - you were not around the program then.

2. Butch was hired to clean up the program - which was in the schitter - even when the NCAA almost gave us the Death Penalty.

3. What do you know about his gameday coaching - when you've only heard that and learned it by rote? You see - back then - we lost 31 scholarships - and Saban, Jimmy Johnson, Dabo Sweeney, and any other coach you can name - working together - would have a hard time getting through the games -we were so short-handed.

But you wouldn't know schitt about that - either - since you weren't around the program then - or you would haven't posted your exactly opposite BS - about Butch getting us on probation etc., clearly demonstrating you don't know what the **** you're talking about.

It's not so much that you don't know things - it's that you know so many things that just aren't true - and THEN have the lack of judgement required to repeat such false crap.

Maybe you'd do better to stay off the topic of Butch Davis - and maybe go hang out on some cooking threads - somewhere.

i didnt bring it up. dude was trashing one of our commits (happens to be a good kid and a talented player) as not one of the "goons" butch would bring in.
 
FIU has gotten worse as more of "Butch's guys" have enrolled. He had more success with the guys he inherited from the previous staff. You'd think a guy with such an eye for talent would have improved the roster but they've gotten worse.

Butch cut a lot of corners to get those kids at North Carolina and the Tar Heels program paid a price.

That was also a decade ago; prior to Clemson and Alabama becoming the full-blown machines they are. Saban got the Crimson Tide his first title there in 2009 and he's owned recruiting ever since.

Butch can recruit, but to believe he'd just have re-locked down South Florida from 2016 and beyond in this current climate is a stretch—and I'm a Davis supporter that wrote a handful of articles calling for him to be rehired at the time.
