Ice Harris

Guandolo had Cybress Bay competing longer than they should have with that triple option... Come on, City... Everyone recruits in Dade and Broward... Its what you can do with it... BTW,STA and Central are examples of teams that have systems in place and players want to play for them... They have good coaches there... No knock on Ice but when he left BTW was falling off... He came back built the program stronger than ever... They were killing nationally rank teams...

People can be so **** naïve when it comes to judging a coach's ability. It reminds me of the list that Blustein released just before the season that had the "top high school coaches in South Florida." Go figure, it was a list of guys who are at loaded teams. My boy at Coral Springs would dance circles around Ice Harris or just about any other coach in South Florida but nobody really mentions his name cause he's at a program that's not prominent in South Florida. You guys don't know what these coaches do or what their principles are so you judge them based on the only thing you have access to, their records and/success. That can be extremely misleading.

You can't judge a coach when his team is loaded. Show me a coach who does something with nothing. A coach who makes chicken salad out of chicken ****. Somebody who wins without D-1 talent.

I'm not saying Ice isn't a good coach, all I'm saying is that it's extremely hard to tell considering the talent he's always had at his disposal. Shoot, they just won another state championship WITHOUT him.

Why you hating on ICE when your sorry *** teams only win 1 game all year..

Bruh don't bring your lame *** act in here. You wanna debate like these other guys, by all means. Save your bull****.

Can't handle facts I see... Are you a head coach yet or do they still have you coaching special teams?

Guandolo never ran the triple option, he ran the Wing-T. Great coach, no doubt. His Cypress teams are always well-coached, but they haven't been good since they had that trio of D-1 kids on offense. They were winning off those three kids for three seasons straight. They haven't been nowhere near the same since they graduated. So they were never "competing longer than they should have."

Soooo...

Lemme get this straight, everybody who's winning just happens to have the most talent ANDa great system in place? LOL

How 'bout this, let's wait until National Signing Day and see which programs send the most kids to D-1. I'm just guessing but I'm willing to bet it's gonna be the same schools that have [so called] great coaching and systems.

You make no sense. What coach wins without talent? They won one with his son so that is an extension Harris. UM will always have top shelf talent so we need a coach who can win with athletes.

+10000000

Can't discredit a guy because he has talent. Kids see this and transfer to his program. BTW was falling off when Ice was on the staff with Randy. He came back and the team is stronger than ever. George Smith and Ice Harris are examples of great coaches.

Don't +10000000 that bull**** *** statement. That's garbage. Good coaches win with sub-par talent. They DOMINATE with equal or superior talent. I know this cause I've been apart of it.

George Smith? Lmao. He used to get his *** handed to him before STA had a monopoly on Broward talent. Gimme a break! You guys really do believe everything you read in Bluestein's blogs.

Clearly, coaching does matter, even with lots of talent (see Al Golden). Ice must have some coaching ability to achieve what he has. That being said, how disappointed and beaten down have we become from Al Golden that we're ready to promote a guy straight out of high school to HC. I'm desperate enough to try it.

What you're seeing with Ice and Booker T is a loaded urban school that's actually being COAHCED AT ALL.

I assure you, if the rest of these loaded schools were being coaches AT ALL it wouldn't be as easy for Booker T.

The coaching in South Florida is ATROCIOUS, so the school that has a little coaching (and talent) stands out.

I dont know if you couldnt read it or simply skipped over the factthat Ice...Out coached top programs FROM OUT OF STATE..........wITH TOP PAID COACHES..AND HE HAS DONE IT ...routinely..DUDE ISNT A BAD COACH AT ALL.

I dont give out props like that to these clowns down here coaching..you know where i played high school ball at....you know how these teams, newspaper writers, scouts are bias to certain schools etc...

But im being 100% real when i say...YOUR BOY AINT ON ICE'S LEVEL.lol

Coral Springs doesnt have any div 1 guys..but CORAL SPRINGS could have..if your boy can BUILD the PROGRAM.

Western..same thing...BUILD THE PROGRAM from the GRASSROOTS.sned kids to college..and hit the optomist leagues...develop the jv PROGRAM ETC..

Your boy aint coaching circles around Ice.

2.) Booker T was coached before Ice by another coach who couldnt do what Ice DID...and that coach was a dade county veteran coach (Hughes)

I give him respect because he built a PROGRAM at BTW....Which isnt easy as you think. Add to it Booker T did it mostly without Tranfers.

Kids who play at Booker T live in the worst part of Miami By Far....his kids for the most part all qualify and make the grades...these arent the fakes acting hard from Weston or Carol City...i work in Overtown....Believe ME...

Ice coached offense at a bunch of schools in dade..and they all have had prolific type offenses.

THEY WON another one without him............BECAUSE he BUILT a PROGRAM..and its being ran by his son for christ sake...lol

Coach.
Circles.
Around.
Him.
All.
Day.

He took a 3-7 Coral Springs team to 7-3 this year, beat Gibbons, won a playoff birth and hung with Hallandale down to the wire. His offense scored more points against Flanagan and Monarch than anybody they played all season. He took Western from 5-5 to 6-4 to 7-3 and managed to beat a loaded Plantation team twice in one season. Western's record is 4-16 since he left.

If you gave him half of the talent that Ice has had to work with it would be laughable.

Does Ice do a good job? I'm sure. But gimme a ******' break. His teams are loaded every year.

If he is that good a coach then he has done a very poor job of marketing himself to better programs.

WTF are "better" programs?

Do you even know what a good "program" is?

Would you rather coach at Bama or Vandy?

I have to tell you, I laugh when people tell me about these great coaches who struggle to get HS gigs.

I know a few coaches who didn't have any connections to start who ended up on solid D1 staffs (whether volunteering, GAs) and now are college HCs (mostly below D1). If you are that good, motivated, willing to bust your ***, you can get in good programs and move up the ladder.

Honestly, you sound like a jealous hater because you are stuck at a ****** school.

Yea wing t, my bad... Man I remember when he left Chaminade in I believe 03 or 04 for Cypress Bay and he had them among the county's best once he got there... They weren't state champs or anything at that time but they were talented... In regards to the teams winning with the right system in place, I think the teams who have been winning consistently will have the most players with D1 scholly's... I wasn't able to keep up with south florida football this year because I'm no longer there but when I see teams like Flanagan, Monarch(who's about 10-13 years old), and others do well I like it because the teams down there were lacking coaching for so long that a lot of prospects were getting overlooked... Its just so happen that more premiere athletes were transferring to the winning programs, but STA was doing their thing before the Scarletts, Joyners, Bruce's and Linders were playing there... I know you remember BA getting some of the best athletes in the area only to lose 1st round. Even Dillard fell off until they brought in a new coach. The county is getting better but the coaches and programs that are winning consistently has a good system in place where many of the top athletes want to go...

It appears that the parity among teams is emerging again but I remember when players were transferring to Boyd Anderson only to get knocked out of the playoffs 1st round, meanwhile Coach Smith had STA winning ships...

I don't pay attention to Bluestein... Smith wasn't winning ships all the time in the 90's (when I grew up in Broward) but he had them competing and only got better. Once Dillard fell off, Plantation fell off, Deerfield and even Ely he was the only one consistently winning... You can't take that away from him... STA was always competitive... It took him awhile to become who he is but he did... I mean lets be real which teams win without talent? Dillard had how many studs winning ships? Ely had Ty Moss in crew when they we dominating. Kevin Beard and Ryan(forgot his name) were killing dudes? STA had to come up... I mean gained even more respect for Smith when he won states in the 08-09 season... Who was their star recruit?
